I don't watch TV much, I don't have time and am usually doing other stuff (or watching NetFlix). I do try and keep current on a few shows via On Demand though, and those shows sometimes have commercials.
I just saw a commercial advertizing a movie with Johnny Depp as dracula. Wait, what? It was a comedy type movie too from the excerpts, and it was called Dark Shadows. I know I'm old, but DARK SHADOWS, REALLY? Dark Shadows was one of the *best* vampire shows hands down. It was originally aired in the mid/late 60s, then as a revival series in the early 90s. It was amazing. I can't believe they're remaking it, and while I adore Depp and think he's a versatile and talented actor, I have to say I am disappointed. Ben Cross played Barabbas in the revival, and he was amazing - the quintessential vampire - and to take that show, turn it into a movie, and cast Johnny Depp? I has a sad. :(

Depp as Barnabas:
Severe DOWNGRADE D:
Depp's version of Barnabas reminds me of a comedic version of Radu from Subspecies. :(
Here's a trailer of the 4th episode that gives a pretty good idea of Barnabus' character:
If you've never saw Dark Shadows, you should definitely take a minute out of your day and see what a REAL vampire is supposed to be like! I mean, besides the 90s quality of the clip and Movie Voice, what do you think?

It's like they're making a huge joke out of a classic. If Tim Burton wanted to make a movie completely different from what Dark Shadows was, he could have just did it, changed the names, and used a different title. :/
Any other long time fantasy/classic horror fans want to weigh in on this??
