I am merely passing the greeting over from Sophie, who is the one person whom I think truly knows what this day represents. In any case I think it better reflects the cultural legacy of this day than name-dropping a couple courting idiots from the Middle Ages (both named Valentine).

i agree with this a hundred and ten percent.
valentine's could also be another ploy to get people to spend more of their money and re-enforce that idea or mentality that "you are nobody unless somebody loves you"
people place just such a high importance to go ahead and find that special someone - forget that you can have a career or whatever. i mean, seriously though.
America has this weird and uncanny ability to include you and exclude you as well. the kids are so proud to proclaim their hypens while at the same time, they know nothing about their home country - yet anyone new who comes here should adhere to "american" standards.
to be honest, there is just really nothing about Valentine's Day ... if you need a freaking day to appreciate your girlfriend or boyfriend then what the hell are you doing in a relationship? just so that you wont be seen as single? fuck that. being single is like looking through a glass half empty/half full.
it can be a choice ... or you are just so pathethically conditioned believing that you really are not worth 'being loved'
