Mike Anderson, the father of a gold star recipient that died on deployment, is speaking on C-SPAN 2 right now.
He's not pulling a Cindy Sheehan. Quite the opposite. He's talking about duty and honor and freedom and bravery. He's talking about service and priveledge and heroes.
This is truly a man with integrity and honor.
The most disturbing element of the Cindy Sheehan story for me was the way she supported the war effort and her son's duty up until the minute he died doing it. Once it affected her negatively, she did a 180 and suddenly opposed all things related to what she formerly praised.
There are patriots on C-SPAN right now that understand what sacrifice means. None of them are happy for the loss they've endured, but they don't regret their decisions just because it now affects them. And they certainly don't seek to disgrace the memories of their lost loved ones by going on the air and saying the war is a mistake because they lost someone.
I'm just really very appreciative that patriotism can still run deep.
In unrelated news... Robert Jordan died yesterday. Everywhere in the world... fans of the incomplete "Wheel of Time" series are freaking out right now, and mourning.
