Once again, I feel as if my life is in a rut. The same old crap, day in, day out. I finally got sick of biking, as of last friday, so I've been on a week-long hiatus. Maybe I'll feel motivated to ride again on Monday... but I think that the practicality of biking to work in the morning (or the lack thereof) is starting to bother me, in addition to some other stuff.
You see, the problem with biking to work in the morning is that I've been driving from my Apartment in West Huntsville out to Harvest to meet people. I leave my truck in Harvest, bike to work, then either bike back after work or ride out there in the pickup vehicle. At first, when we were training for the Chief Ladiga and the Katy Trails, I didn't mind this so much. But now, we're doing it just for the hell of it, and I'm not liking it too much anymore. In fact, I don't think that I'll be driving to Harvest anymore, at least not for another week or so. I'm not gaining anything by going out there, besides a workout, but it's costing me in gas. Plus, I drive farther to get to the starting point than we actually ride (It's probably 20 miles out from my apt., just to bike in 15 miles to Adtran). Right now, it's just not worth it to me anymore... I've grown bored with it, and there's no reward.
Speaking of bored, work had slowed down tremendously before the end of last week... now, there's too much crap going on... I've got at least four projects to be working on now. It's true what they say, that when you ask for more work to do, you usually get it and then some. The problem with the highest priority project is that I haven't gotten very clear information on what's going on... I've had to inferr most of what I think I know at the moment, but hopefully I can clear some crap up tomorrow.
Speaking again of being bored... since I'm not biking this week, I haven't been up to anything after work. Today, however, two events were going on... The Madison County chapter of the Alabama Alumni Association was having a pre-season Luau over at the Botanical gardens, and the Huntsville Young Professionals (
www.getHYP.com) were having another one of their "Alive after Five" deals, this time at Ditto Landing in South Huntsville. I've been to an alumni function already, but I hddn't been to an HYP function yet, so I decided to check it out. It was actually a pretty good event, with a nice turnout of people. Dreamland catered the food, and beer was on tap for those who wanted to consume the beverage. Met some nice people, of whom I've forgotten all names. The weather was ideal down on the river, nice sunset. People seemed to be having a grand time. Would've been better if I'd gone with someone, but that's much easier said than done. All in all, a good time was had... I'll have to check out the next event.
Looking for football tickets... I want to go to the Hawaii game, but I'm thinking that it'll be impossible to get tickets. Well, it won't be impossible, but the question always boils down to that of cost. The only game that I may get to attend is Homecoming... and that's only because I'll try to get in with the Alumni Band (yay.).
Ugh... Bored. What are my options at 9p.m.? Read some books... figure out how to use my Xilinx FPGA software... try to learn about 802.11a/b/g and wireless access points... continue wasting serverspace by writing on this thing. So very unentertaining.
