I have an office?! I have my own phone?!!! I have my own computer that no one else is going to touch?! Holy Cow.
Thats right. So far the new job is astounding me with fun things. I have my own lab to call my office, which is a step up from sharing a cube with a thousand other people. I have my OWN PHONE WITH VOICEMAIL. While most of the time its gona come from work stuff, its still incredibly awesome. And I'm on the second floor, and if I go right outside my door, I can see outside. I no longer will be working in a dungeon.
Actually, if I roll my chair back a few feet, I can see out the windows in the lab next door. Awesome.
So far today has consisted of running me around the building finding things, sitting around as Jim creates my computers accounts, helping one person get into her exchange email (done that before), some errands to and from the business office, and then sitting around doing nothing. Had Jim show me a few things here and there, but most of it is stuff I am going to have to just pick up with practice more than anything. Oh, and I got my card setup so I can swipe into the building and into the lab.
On the other hand, this entire building sorta reminds of me of Black Mesa Research Facility. So I keep expecting someone to hand me a shot gun and tell me to go for help, blasting my way by aliens and soldiers sent to kill us all.....
Anyway, back to work now. Gona check with Jim to see if there is anything I should be doing right now. Wasn't a few minutes ago, but then he was talking to some guy. Now he's just sitting in his office doing something. *shrug*
