"Blaine - Blaine what if it passes?"

A/N: Just a small drabble of their reactions.  A little late to posting this, but I hope you enjoy. (:

Blaine and Kurt are clutching tightly to each other's hands, squishing the other's fingers as they try to find a way to breathe around the tightness in their lungs, and the fast, anticipating beats of their hearts. The words of the Senators ring in their ears, and the colors across the screen blur as they wait, caught between wanting to just get it over with and afraid to here the answer.

It's been a long, exhausting day, but they're prepared to stay up all night, tucked away in Kurt's bedroom to wait for their dreams to come true.

After a long, beautiful rant supporting the bill made by a Senator who's name Kurt is too shaken up to remember, he inhales sharply, turning to his boyfriend.

"Blaine - Blaine what if it passes?"

Blaine bites his lip, shaking his head. "I don't know."

"That's our future on the line," Kurt breathes. "Our future. We're going to New York after high school. Can - can you imagine getting married there? Legally? I - " He breaks off, stifling a sob.

Blaine nods silently, showing Kurt that he understands. His eyes are glassy, his eyebrows curved downward in a vulnerable expression. He wraps a strong arm around Kurt's shoulder, pulling him close.

They're absolutely silent, nearly holding their breaths as they listen to a few more Senators speak, and then it's time for the vote.

"Oh, God," Kurt whispers, turning his head and burying his face in Blaine's shoulder. One arm is wrapped tightly around Blaine's waist, the other bent in front, his palm laying flat on Blaine's chest, and he can feel the other boy's heart pounding against fingers.

"It's okay," Blaine say softly. "Whatever happens - it's going to be okay. A stupid bill isn't going to keep us from being together."

Kurt nods his agreement, but it doesn't stop that sinking feeling inside of him at the thought that this most likely won't pass.

But then the miracle happens, and the words "legal in New York" are coming from the speakers, and they both freeze for a moment. Kurt's heart feels like it's exploded from his chest and he suddenly can't breathe and Blaine's dizzy and feels like he's going to throw up, but in a wonderful way. And then they're both jumping up, laughing and crying, and they clutch to each other with desperate grips, never wanting to let go.

"Blaine - it's - we can - I - " Kurt chokes out through his tears, utterly incoherent.

Blaine laughs, pecking Kurt on the lips. "We can get married. We're going to get married. We're moving to New York like we planned, and we're getting married."

"Just shut up," Kurt says, chuckling. "I can't handle this."

He leans forward, wrapping his arms further around Blaine's neck and then they're kissing passionately, tongue and all, hands reaching for hips and cheeks, holding each other together. It's wonderful and beautiful because as they meld together, their lives are flashing before their eyes - past, present, and future.

And all they can see is their wedding day with smooth, shining tuxes and silver rings and their friends and families all seated in rows, watching the two of them preparing to spend the rest of their lives together. They can hear the wedding bells, and the pastor speaking, each other saying, "I do." And they can feel the way they'll kiss - soft and gentle, unlike now - and it seems like something out of fairytale, except it's not just a dream.

It's reality.
