Nick was quiet, at peace for once... so used to being alone that someone near, a presence of warmth seemed to be a calming influence on him. His cheek laid against Bucky's shoulder lightly, and he barely stirred, rubbing it across... his lips to his neck as he let out a breath. It could almost be a sigh.

He felt himself chuckle at those sleepy nuzzles, and he gave the man a squeeze. "Are you awake, sweetness?"

"Bastard." His eyes remained shut, arms slowly stretching out. "Mm.. don't call me that." Soft blue blinked up at him and Nick smiled briefly before reality came crashing and he leant back a little... unsure.

"Oh, yeah? Then what should I call you? Lamb chop? Muffin?" He pressed a couple playful kisses to the man, a grin on his face. "So, how did you sleep?" Bucky himself had slept pretty well, given the circumstances.

"Real good," he admitted, ignoring him because if he discouraged him, he'd just continue. He suspected the other man liked it when he was sharp with him. He drew his arm over him as he rolled over... going for his jeans, the back pocket and his cell. Quickly checking, but coming away with the time instead, "had to, it's after noon."

Christ, spending the night with someone apparently made Bucky sleep way too much. This could be bad. "Crap on a stick." He got up, pulling on some clothes and tramping into the kitchen to make some coffee.

Well, that was.. abrupt. Nick sprawled out onto his back slowly, letting his arms stretch fine, and long, above his head... unsure if he was supposed to feel insulted or relieved. He guessed this was a step up from last time, and the guy had a point - they were making a bad habit with this. Maybe.. they'd get used to it in time.

"Hey," He called from the doorway, his hair damp from splashing water, rousing himself up, eyes still a little dark and guarded.. but with an easier demanour of being shirtless than before. "Can we talk?"

He rested his hands against the counter, then turned in the man’s direction from where he stood in front of the coffee machine. “Yeah. Sure, we can talk.” Abandoning the coffee as it started to brew, he headed into the other room, leaning against the frame of the door.

Well, shit. Now how would they handle it this time? Nick brushed his fingers down his arm, just shy of curling to his...

"So...this might become a habit. Puts a damper on training and then you get bitchy's the only complaint I got."

There. That was casual enough, and true too.

"Ain't it up to both of us whether this becomes a habit?" A brow quirked ironically. Of course, he didn't mind if it became a habit. Not one bit. He just didn't like the undermining way Nick had said that. "And who says I'm bitchy?" As if he wasn't acting bitchy right then. Really, he was doing nothing to help his cause.

He didn't push it, rolling his eyes in response to that. Sure he wasn't. He took a step towards him, hand lifted, watching what he'd do. Lean to him, get on his guard, what.

Bucky just stared at the man, eyebrow creeping up farther. "The hell are you doing?"

"Nothin'" Defensive to the point of it stinging at his dismissal, he backed off. "Forget it..." He turned to leave. "Said what I wanted, so screw it - we carry on. Right."

"Damn right. Just because I sucked your dick doesn't mean I feel nothing for you and besides, like you said, it'd probably put a damper on training." Even he didn't believe it. But he didn't have to; he'd have plenty of time to work through these issues on his own. All that mattered was that Nick believed it. Things would be better this way...

I am so pissed off this snapped me awake despite four hours of sleep.... pushmefirst June 6 2012, 06:25:50 UTC
It's a damn fine poker face Nick keeps. He's had years to perfect it so he won't take the easy route and just turn away when something bothers him. He's good because of that tough skin he's developed over time; that idea nothing can hurt. It's always worked for him and it would now.

It wasn't like he expected anything different - and he hadn't offered anything so familiar to be dismissed in that way. It was insulting as the other had probably intended and that was a real talent he had.

So, he holds his gaze for a moment or two. Just doesn't speak. But there's hatred in his eyes of being violated in broad daylight where he was willingly exploited in the dark. He had no one to blame but himself? Well that was bull. He blamed him - he blamed the fuck out of him.

And Bucky would never touch him again.

"Speaking of training..." he prompts. Giving himself the out and not him. He needs the vigorous pushing of himself today - forget this crap.

For a second, he regretted it. Bit back the name on the tip of his tongue. Resisted the urge to touch him. It would only earn him a smack anyway, and he couldn’t say he wouldn’t deserve it. Things seemed to go one step forward and two steps back when it came to these two. They had finally broken down some of the barriers in communication between them and Bucky had to go off and act like this. It was already apparent what his choice was; he was going to avoid this at all costs. He was not going to let Nick drag him down. And he was not going to show weakness, either.

So he didn’t let it show that it bothered him to upset the man. He didn’t let any of the regret he felt show. Instead, he returned to the kitchen, pouring himself a cup of coffee that seemed utterly lacking in flavor.
