He’d been looking for Bucky for the better part of a day and had cut a wide swatch in the Las Vegas criminal underworld in searching for his kidnapped lover. Oh, how Romulus would have despaired and despised the mutant to see him reduced to cutting up people in crack houses and other unsavory places in hopes of rattling enough trees to get an idea of where Bucky might be

Bucky didn’t even notice Daken was there at first. All he noticed was that the pain disappeared. No. That was a lie. The pain didn’t disappear-it simply dulled. But the knife was no longer digging into his flesh, and that was good enough for him. He was vaguely aware of the sounds of the scuffle over the sound of his own voice. His screams died and he squeezed his eyes shut, returning to his mantra of name, rank, serial number. His fist clenched tight-the fist he still had at the moment

Once Daken was certain there were no more dangers lurking about, the mutant lightly cupped Bucky’s face and turned the human’s unseeing eyes back so he could look into them. For the second time in so many days, the mutant found himself manipulating the other with the usage of pheromones and projected a sense of calm and soothing towards the injured soldier.
“Bucky? James? Look at me, I’m here, alright? I’m going to get you out of here.” Daken was surprised at the rage churning beneath the surface. The only time he ever really experienced anger was when dealing with his father or Romulus. He wasn’t even angry at Bucky. He was angry with the people who’d done this to the human.
When his eyes fell on the bloody letters carved into Bucky’s arm and stomach, he was shocked to hear the feral, almost bestial sound rumbling in his chest. Truthfully, he’d seen worse scenes of torture. Hell, he’d committed more heinous acts in his long years as Romulus’s lapdog. When Daken started turning Bucky’s face toward him, Bucky initially resisted. But then the man started projecting those calming pheromones, and Bucky allowed his face to be turned. When he opened his eyes, they were met with Daken’s.
That eye contact hurt. It hurt more than any of the physical pain he was experiencing right then. He’d been holding on to see the man again, but he didn’t want him to see him like this. And that level of intimacy while he was still raw like this, emotional channels and nerves all aflame was too much for him. He turned away again.
When Daken cut him free, Bucky made no efforts to move. He just continued to sit there, looking away from the man as if lost in his thoughts. “I didn’t think you would come for me,” he mumbled.
"Want some company to make sure you don't drown? I might even wash your back if you ask nicely." He offered with a brief grin and headed into the house so he could disable the alarm system.
"Yes." It didn't matter that the suggestion may have been made in jest. Bucky had answered in earnest. He felt foolish and ashamed about his earlier musings that Daken didn't care about him. Of course the man cared. In his own, twisted kind of way. Bucky had just been tired and emotionally raw and understandably upset. Now that he'd gotten some sleep, albeit fitful sleep, he almost wondered why he'd thought such things to begin with. He got out of the car and followed his lover into the house.
The fact that Daken had tortured the man who hurt him half to death probably had something to do with it. Especially considering the emotionless, methodical way he'd gone about doing it. Of course, it was Daken so he couldn't just come out and say he'd done it because the man had hurt Bucky. Or that in doing so, he'd forced Daken to do something he really didn't want to do when he carved over the marks on Bucky's skin.
Once the alarm was disabled, Daken walked into the bathroom and started to draw the aforementioned bath before beginning to strip out of his grimy, blood streaked clothing. "How hot do you want it?"
Oh, there was a wealth of things he could say in response to that question, but he just kept them to himself. Instead, he tried his best to answer without any innuendo. "I like it hot." Even intentionally trying to keep the innuendo out of his voice, he couldn't keep it out of his mind, and he sporfled at his own answer.
He managed to remove his own clothes fairly well, but experienced some difficulty when attempting to remove the bandages Daken had wrapped around his wounds. Sighing, he held out his arm. "Would you?"
