The set-up was almost perfect: FALL OUT BOY, PANIC! AT THE DISCO, and Fueled By Ramen stage destroyers TWENTY ONE PILOTS would play a sold-out September show at Toronto’s Echo Beach. But then it rained. With a quick jab from a weather system, the hype and hysteria for a pop punk rebirth catapulted into an outdoor gig where everyone could have actually used some layers. It did however backdrop each artist in a different light, adding even more character to the experimental pop duo from Chicago and saturating Brendon Urie’s (somewhat solo) set with vintage crooner feels. Fall Out Boy on the other hand didn’t falter as they powered through 23 tracks, counting a few From Under The Cork Tree gems, a Drake cover, and “Grand Theft Autumn” on acoustic. Take that Mother Nature.
