Before I die, I absolutely positively MUST see a space shuttle launch in person.

Thank you! Man, they've got some fancy ticket packages there. :)

Holy CRAP I had no idea. I just did a bunch of reading on Wikipedia, and it seems that NASA is wanting to extend flights to 2015 until the new Orion program is ready, but I shouldn't assume it'll happen. According to this - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_space_shuttle_missions - there's only 8 missions left!

Ugh.

Interestingly enough, Orion is just the Apollo Spacecraft updated to the 21st century. Same general design of capsule and everything.

I wish I could have seen a Saturn V launch but I wasn't born in time for that. I'd like to see a shuttle launch too though, I visited Cape Kennedy once and saw a shuttle on the pad from a tour bus but that was about it.

The one thing that bothers me about a shuttle launch is that you have to have tickets to be able to see it well... and launches get postponed allll the time, and I'm not a Florida native so that could get pretty pricey pretty fast, depending on the length of the delay.

If anything, you should make the trip to Kennedy Space Center without seeing a launch. It was one of my favorite parts of our trip to Orlando last Spring.

OR you could move to Orlando and every time a shuttle launches the windows in your house can rattle. :)
