Is it really true that content downfall drives some people back here?

Less people, more focused writing. There is more control as to who sees yours posts. I have a permanent account, so no pesky ads. There are lots of positives if you are just writing.

I can't deny that.

Facebook's pace is a lot faster at all than this here; also there is a lot more trash people post about.
It's a platform for your ego, just to put it clearly.

The most amusing thing about facebook I find is that they copy the possibilities of how to protect your posts. At least what I have heard what they introduced by the time - most of these things are common here for a long time already.

I think you nailed it. I mostly use Facebook to catch news headlines and play a couple of (guilty pleasure) games. I do scroll to see updates on friends, but could care less how many contacts I have and I have really closed down who has access to my Facebookl. Again, I use it more for information, rather than broadcasting.

Well, that's maybe what it's good for. Broadcasting anything, gaining popularity for a certain project of product - but if you want to be left alone, it's totally unusable. Let alone the circumstance that they want you to sign in with your real name.
That's like you write an official complaining letter and nail it to the most visited place in town, including who has written it and your address, where everyone can find that person.
I doubt anyone would do the last thing from his own free will - except he is begging for trouble or a free death.
