Applications Engineer

Qualifications
3-5 years of prior experience with optics, mechanical/vacuum, electrical systems, or semiconductor manufacturing equipment are preferred. In addition, the candidate should expect long hours of working in cleanroom environment due to the 24/7 fab situation. This job opening is based at Intel virtual factories but will need to travel up to 50% of the time in domestic and outside US. 6 Applications Scientists

The person is responsible to provide high level applications support of complex measurement systems used in manufacture of semiconductor devices/integrated circuits. The Scientist will work in Nanometrics Singapore and support customers worldwide. Travel to domestic and international customer sites is required. The selected applicant will have the opportunity to work closely with process engineers in semiconductor fabs to provide metrology solutions for complex multi-layer thin film measurements and Optical Critical Dimension measurements for sub-100 nanometer features. Duties will include characterization of cutting edge measurement technologies, technical paper publications, making technology / product presentations and technical training for customers.

Qualifications

MS/PH.D. in Materials Science, Physics, Chemistry or Chemical Engineering. Required experience with statistics/data analysis/fitting concept software; Ability to systemically troubleshoot problems to root cause and identify and thoroughly test solutions; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Possess good interpersonal skills and willing to work in a team environment; Ability to travel up to 30-40% of the time.

Preferred 1-2+ year experience in a semiconductor fab; Familiarity with Software coding using Visual Basic, C++, MathCAD, Matlab.

Research Scientist

Lead cross-functional teams of internal (Nanometrics) and external (various suppliers) personnel to develop advanced optical metrology systems; Plan (including formal Design of Experiments), Execute (including managing personnel and hardware resources), and Report (formal reports and presentations with data interpretation) on experimental plans to identify technology needs; Lead technical review teams for evaluating Market Requirements Documents and formal supplier selections/evaluations.
Provide individual technical contribution as appropriate for the candidate’s specific skill set; Identifying project risk areas and structure plans to manage this risk; Work with Materials and Manufacturing organizations to ensure an orderly, timely and complete transition to manufacturing, including ramping volume suppliers; Work with Applications engineering to ensure full qualification of the product and evaluation of the product to the Market Requirements Document and Customer Evaluations; Working with Product Support to ensure the product is successfully launched into the field.

Qualifications

3+ years in an R&D environment developing metrology systems for the semiconductor, solar, or scientific industries, or extensive directly applicable experience in a University PHD program with commercial sponsorship; In-depth knowledge of Optical imaging techniques including broadband illumination, lasers, beam steering optics, Fiber optics, camera's etc.; In-depth knowledge of metrology error and noise sources, and the design and analysis techniques required to manage those error sources.
Experienced with Zemax or other design/analysis programs; Strong knowledge of modern optical manufacturing and design methods; MS in Physics, Engineer, or Optics as a minimum.

Ramp Specialist

Provide project management on ramp installation requiring extended overnight travel. Provides technical support to field engineers, technicians, and product support personnel who are diagnosing, troubleshooting, repairing and debugging complex electro/mechanical equipment, computer systems, complex software, or networked and/or wireless systems. Responds to situations where first-line product support has failed to isolate or fix problems in malfunctioning equipment or software. Reports design, reliability and maintenance problems or bugs to design engineering/software engineering. May be involved in customer installation and training. Provides support to customer/users where the product is highly technical or sophisticated in nature.

Qualifications

Minimum 4 years experience with semiconductor capital equipment. Minimum A.S. in Electronics, Prefer B.S. Degree in Engineering or Electronics or Military Equivalent. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint & Outlook), CRM experience is a plus.

2 Field Service Engineers

Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems. Checks out and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system. Serves as company liaison with customer on administrative and technical matters for assigned projects. Interprets customers’ needs and clarifies if the responsibility for problem resolution falls to sales personnel, customer support reps, or engineers. This job may include any aspect of field support, and is not limited to system hardware and software, PCs, and IP telephony/networking/ wireless networking.

Qualifications
