4 months of preparation = nothing

On 22 November 2010 Melissa scored a 980 on the GRE.

A 590 on the verbal (down 10 points from my 2006 score).

A 390 on the quantitative (down 150 from my 2006 score). [AN: the nebulous "they" and all the damned book writers say that the quantitative section is generally considered the easier of the 2...well, they never met me. I'm good at math. I can still help people with some calculus even though I don't do it everyday anymore. But these guys...where's a mob boss when you need one?]

I know that my 1140 is still a valid score, and will be reported along with my oh so beautiful new score. I'm still worried that my inability to take these damned tests that ETS develops has shot me in the foot.

And, I'm sorry. While the math may not exceed that which is found in 10th grade. No question asked of me was ever that convoluted and tricky.

I went through 3 books, 2 pieces of software, and 4 practice tests. And I must say that the practice tests (much like the PSAT) are much easier than the actual thing, and, therefore, not of much use to me.

Well, it's too late for me to take it again as circumstance and finance prevented me from taking it in September (and again in October). I hope my SOP, CV, and letters out weigh my recent $160 blunder.

Sad times. Sad times.
