I swear, Anberlin keeps getting better and better. I can't wait for their new album to come out, because I'm so getting it! But Christian, WHY did you chop off your hair?! You looked so much better with it longer a la the video for Unwinding Cable Car.
Anyway, I'm back from the motherland. Got back last Tuesday actually, but I'm still suffering the effects of jetlag, because my sleep schedule is really all over the place.
I can't believe I go back to class as of next week. I feel like I actually just started summer vacation.
And I still can't believe I'm starting my senior year. My classes and KKA and English Undergraduate Association, which I'm going to become more active in again, are going to keep me really busy.
As for this summer? It has been, by far, the most rewarding experience of my life. My kids were great, even though they were also teenage terrors. Well, the boys were anyway. XD The girls were definitely more well behaved, but I think because the boys were more outgoing in comparison to the girls, I feel like they also learned more. The girls...definitely improved, in that they were a little more confident, a little more open. But the boys were still more open and liable to ask questions in English by the end of my time at the school than the girls.
I'm rambling. Ehehe. ^^;;;
Unpacking after I got back was a nightmare. Unpacking from any trip, no matter the duration, is my least favorite activity next to cleaning my apartment. If I could, I would live out of a suitcase forever, but that's just not a logical or feasable (feasible? Which one is it? My brain doesn't seem to be able to figure out) course of action in terms of day-to-day living.
Still, I'm mostly unpacked, and occasionally taking the new clothes that I bought for a spin--new black top, new white gaucho top, new purple stretchy-satiny legging pants, new pink (orange?) t-shirt with gold design on the front. OH, and I bought a TON of DVDs and CDs, because the stuff is dirt cheap in India.
I wasn't able to bring back a copy of The DaVinci Code though, which is a movie I really want. Maybe I'll buy it and some LUSH stuff for myself for my birthday (less than a month away now, yay!).
In fandom news, I am officially a GLEEk. OMG. GLEE IS LOVE. I'm honestly not surprised I like it as much as I do, but I couldn't get into it when it first aired here for whatever reason. Of course, as often happens to me, I watched the first episode in India, and was basically hooked, though I wasn't able to properly follow it there either! Thankfully, my flight back had the next six episodes after the pilot on demand, and so I watched them in great detail...and then came home and torrented the entire first season so I could get caught up and watch it in a minimal amount of time.
I'm SO ready for Season 2!
Of course, NCIS is still my first love. And I have an NCIS WIP staring me in the face saying "Complete me! Complete me!" The sad thing is that I've been working on it for almost a year, and it's STILL not done, and we're into...what? Chapter 14?
I really need to finish it before it turns into a monster, though hopefully there's not too much left to cover according to the storyline in my head. So who knows? Maybe I can have it finished by the time school starts next week! :D
Last but not least, I'm applying for Teach for America and City Year, and any other AmeriCorps programs that may appeal to me. My question is for the professionals on my f-list: ARE ANY OF YOU FAMILIAR WITH WRITING COVER LETTERS? I could really use some help on mine. I've got a 500 word limit, but since I've never written a cover letter, I'm not sure what's acceptable material for it: Do you just answer the questions they give you (Why do you want to join, what are going to get by doing it, and how are you planning to measure your success in the program), or is it like the personal statement in college applications that we bust our asses to perfect?
Any advice would be great!
And now, I think I'm going to crash, because I am exhausted -- I've been up since 9:30 in the morning, because I couldn't sleep anymore, even though i went to bed around 3 in the morning after hanging out with a friend.
Jetlag, I hate you.
That's it for now! :)
Until next time, f-list!
