James flew in on the 30th, I can't even remember what we did that day but I do know the poor guy was sick with a bad cold later that night o_o. And weirdly enough I never caught it, I somehow managed to get through this visit without getting sick or injured (although walking everyday, long distances, morning until very late at night left me with super painful feet that are still bothering me :X).

August 3rd we celebrated my birthday with friends, I'd been trying to book the a place to have high tea but its very small and we had about 18 people. They wanted a $100 deposit in case people didn't show which was fine but the only time I could get was for 11:30 am. Ahahaha no D:. Still, before that there were several calls to them because I had trouble figuring out who was going. Some people never got back to me, some were maybes but had said yes, some were yeses but couldn't go but didn't change from yes to no. It got super confusing.

I ended up calling True Confections to see about booking.

It was the manager who answered and told me they don't do bookings and that the night I wanted was also the Fireworks....meaning 400,000 people were going to be down there....whoops :X
But he said he would do it for me anyway and to come in at 6:30pm and they would have two tables set up for me~ I thought that was really nice of them.

The day of I got to see Will and Andrew for awhile, they stopped by for a visit since they were unable to attend but it was still nice seeing them even if it was only for a bit. Andrew and Alisha gave me some really good chocolates from a place out in Squamish and Alisha had hand embroidered me a Doctor Who pillowcase...it looks awesome.

Made it to the cake place but in the end we only needed one table because people several people never showed up (but didn't message me at all). Still had a great time though with James, Lily, Sara and her boyfriend, Derek, Lisa, Amanda, Ashley (if I forgot anyone I am a horrible person and im sorry :( )and even my Mum for a bit. People brought gifts and cards o_o...Ashley made me this beautiful huge bow hair-band with matching clips and a necklace.

James said I reminded him of Kiki.

Amanda gave me this pretty Hello Kitty thing you hang in a doorway, I don't know what they are called but I always wanted an HK one. Just need Chris to come over and install it for me. I thought I could just hang it where the old one (blue circles) was but it was larger across.

From Lisa there was an HK bag, Plushie HK and Sabbath candies~ So cute~

Afterwards we walked over to Nat's to grab pizza then got the hell out of downtown. It was annoying when we got to Skytrain because they were shutting down all the ways in except one so we had to keep walking around. Still, we made it out before the fireworks ended.

For my actual birthday James and I stopped at Metrotown so I could grab my free birthday swag including a little gift box from Sephora with Highlighter and Mascara (which I love because it looks like you are wearing false lashes but omfg..its crazy waterproof and even olive oil doesn't want to remove it). And a chocolate bar from Rocky Mountain...but they only had white...in like 2 flavours...so I probably won't eat it. I think mines banana?

Then we went downtown to Yaletown because James had rented a room at the Opus Hotel, we actually picked the hotel based on who had the most epic bathtub...which was hard because if a hotel posts a photo of the bathroom....its usually of the sink -_-
The Shangri-La actually came in first for that but as Opus is high end and expensive...Shangri-La is obscenely expensive D:

I loved how colourful the place was, not your typical beige walls. I should have taken a photo of our entire room but I got too busy. It was a super bright blue and has a cell phone and iPad to use~ When we walked in, this was sitting on the desk:

We had a quick nibble but because we were both starving, we decided to take a walk to find a place to have dinner. There were lots of little fancy places around but in the end I picked The Keg. We sat upstairs and outside, no bugs, no birds...and on a couch. It was pretty and comfy. I had no clue what to order because everything seems like GIANT STEAK but James helped me find one that was my size, it was coated in pecans and goat cheese and dear god it was amazing. This place will now be my go to for birthday dinner T_T.

When we were done our server brought me out this huge slice of ice cream cake with a candle, at first I didn't want to have any because its mocha and I hate coffee flavoured anything (except Coffee Krisp for some reason) but it WAS SO GOOD T_T Like, BEST CAKE EVER @_@.

Back to the hotel and we noticed they'd closed the curtains, brought in more pillows and left a sour apple lollypop on the beside table. The view from our balcony:

If you ever stay here, make sure you stay with someone you are comfortable with. Between the bed area and the bathroom is not a wall...but a giant window. There are also rooms where the washroom faces outside like that...thankfully we didn't have that :P

We saw 3 movies while he was here, Pacific Rim (we liked the robots, the robots fighting, the girl character and a couple other things, but unlike 99% of our friends...didn't really like it). Also saw Elysium and Despicable Me 2 (both were good)

We also checked out Storm Crown Tavern since neither of us had been. Going on a Friday turned out to be not the best idea, it was VERY busy and although we were seated right away...it was obnoxiously loud with all the people and on top of that, blasting music. The decor was cool and we walked around checking it all out. The food was good and decently priced, the juice however, was over priced.
We picked out a board game to play while we ate but had to give up after awhile when we started making mistakes because we couldn't hear each other. We had the apple and berry crumble for dessert and while the crumble part was yummy...we couldn't taste apple whatsoever and the berry flavour was weird.

Went swimming much but I didn't stay in long. Because of my knees I usually don't use my legs to kick (it hurts) and just use my arms but it didn't matter, just the bit of water pressure on me from moving gently around wanted to push my left kneecap out of joint.

I know I'm forgetting things but we did a lot and enjoyed our time together, we talked more about when he could possibly move back but it was still either this Fall or next Spring.

He said goodbye to Sierra and I think she knew he was going, it was cute but sad =(

Again, at least we have Skype~
