#tricky exam questions

A stroke is basically when part of your brain is not getting enough blood/oxygen. There are two types of strokes- hemorrhagic (bleeding in the brain) and thrombotic (blockage caused by stenosis or occlusion of a blood vessel). Did you know that a blood vessel can have up to 80% blockage without showing any signs or symptoms? o:

Okay. Quiz time.

True or false: A vessel can be up to 70 percent occluded without showing any symptoms.

TRUE.

for some reason, 95% of my class got this question correct, but I got it wrong. The statement specifically says "up to 70 percent" whereas in lecture, we were told "up to 80%" So technically, that statement is false... right?

I lost 0.25 percent of my overall grade because of this question. In the long run, it's not a major deal but damn it, I hate it when TAs do this. Maybe it's because I've taken quite a lot of classes with these kinds of vaguely worded questions and I think wrong or something. But I emailed the lab instructor who wrote these questions and graded the quizzes, and she was all "It wasn't meant to be a trick question" "I don't think it was badly worded" and "If a vessel can be 80% occluded without showing symptoms, then obviously an even less occlusion like 70% would not show symptoms either."

Obviously.
