Fan Fiction?
Can anybody give me a crash course in the conventions and syntax of fan fiction? Some handy definitions of key terms would also be really helpful - "shipping"? "Mary Sue"?
Some odd convergence of academic metaphysics has meant that I keep coming across theoretical stuff on fan fiction, but can't really understand it because I don't know exactly what "it" is ... sigh. Seems to me like its a way of reifying an existing symbolic order (rather than subverting/rupturing it). Maybe even imagining/wishing for a subject position within it? Does this make any kind of sense? is there a furious cynic out there who could help me with this??
