CHARACTER INFO
CHARACTER NAME: Brianna
SERIES: Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic II
RESERVED: Y
WISHLIST: N
PERSONALITY: Brianna may appear at first to be cold and dispassionate, speaking little and rarely ever smiling. However, this is a very deceptive appearance. Though she is not very talkative, Brianna is very intense and driven beneath the surface. The only reason for her outward perception is because as an Echani, she expresses herself better through combat and actions than through words. Anyone observing her in battle would soon see that she is swift, intense, and holds nothing back... in the words of her sisters, her stance is passionate, and she does not focus entirely on her combat training. Brianna is aware of this and tries to control her intense nature--before, it had been a source of shame, but after her travels with the Exile she no longer views herself as "the last" of her sisters. She is an incredibly curious and inquisitive person, seeking to understand the world around her to the fullest, able to find fulfillment in an afternoon spent quietly studying some interesting topic or other. As far as her words do go, Brianna is blunt and direct. She is quite forthright with people, though not unkind. Although she isn't argumentative by nature, she does not tolerate fools or the obnoxious very well and will often verbally cut at people who annoy her. She will also not hesitate to voice disagreement or defend herself verbally.

TIMELINE: Post-game, after being trained as a Jedi and the departure of the Exile

BACKGROUND: Brianna was the result of an illicit romance between the Echani general Yusanis and the Jedi Knight Arren Kae before the Mandalorian Wars. Yusanis, already married with five daughters, carried on the affair with Kae. Despite their attempts to hide their union it eventually came to light and Kae was banished from the Jedi Order. When Revan led the Jedi and the Republic to war against the invading Mandalorians, Kae (Revan's former master) and Yusanis joined the fight. Kae was killed in battle. Yusanis returned to Eshan, the Echani homeworld, and became a Senator--he had lost his spirit of battle with the death of Kae. Later, when Revan declared war against the Republic himself and began assassinating senators, Yusanis returned to war. Exposing Revan's trechery, he challenged the former Jedi to a duel... and lost.

Brianna and her five sisters were left fatherless, although they were by no means unsupported as Yusanis' wife was still alive and they were the widow family of a former war hero and Senator. For Brianna, however, life was not easy. As a bastard child, living proof of her father's dishonor and disgrace, her five sisters belittled and ostracized her. As an Echani, they studied the fighting arts from childhood and made sure that Brianna knew she was the "last" of them in terms of skill and attitude. Brianna compensated with an intense focus and a burning desire to prove her worth--and gained herself a new point of criticism as "too passionate" in her fighting style. After the Jedi Civil War, the daughters of Yusanis entered into the service of a Jedi Master named Atris, a Jedi historian and one of the few survivors of the Jedi Purge. They took up residence on the ravaged planet of Telos, in an old irrigation outpost that Atris had converted into a small Jedi Academy... from there, she planned to gather and rebuild the Jedi. To this end she was gathering many Jedi (as well as Sith) artifacts. Brianna, still set apart from her sisters, took great interest in the histories of the Jedi. Atris took note of this, and Brianna was the one she sent to Dantooine to gather more holocrons from the Jedi Enclave. Brianna, along with her sisters, swore to never be trained in the ways of the Jedi. The six of them would act as a failsafe against any Jedi who turned to the Dark Side.

Some time after that, the Ebon Hawk came to Telos from the destruction of the Peragus mine. Atris ordered Brianna to bring Revan's old ship to the academy to investigate it. Soon afterwards the Jedi Exile--the ship's new owner--came to the academy to retrieve it. The Exile confronted Atris in a heated debate, though Brianna saw only the aftermath of her exhausted and angered mistress. Brianna later spoke with the Exile and told her directly that Atris had warned of her darkness and lust for war. The Exile, however, convinced Brianna that she had not turned to the Dark Side. Brianna, not yet knowing her potential to use the Force, asked the Exile about being a Jedi, spoke with her about the Echani philosophy of battle, and finally asked the Exile to explain what it was like to feel the Force.

Just before the Exile departed the Academy, Atris spoke to Brianna in private and instructed her to travel with the Jedi Exile in her mission to find the three remaining Jedi Masters--to aid her on her journey, and to ensure that the Exile remained on the path of the Light Side. When a Sith named Visas Marr infiltrated the Hawk to abduct the Exile and the Exile subsequently both defeated her and accepted her into the crew, Brianna spoke out strongly against the decision. Though Brianna accepted Visas' presence, she made it clear that she did not trust her.

Brianna also agreed to train the Exile in the Echani fighting style. As they traveled and fought together across the planets they traveled and Brianna saw the Exile's firm commitment to doing what she felt was right, her trust in the Exile grew stronger. She even conceded that the Echani custom of fighting (almost) in the nude was impractical and agreed to wear a set of greyed Jedi robes that had belonged to her mother. The Exile, learning from her mentor Kreia that Brianna was the daughter of a Jedi, realized that Brianna had the potential to learn the Force. She presented Brianna with the choice of whether or not to be trained. Despite her oath to Atris, Brianna decided to do so. Fighting alongside the Exile and realizing that she had Jedi heritage had turned Brianna onto a new path. Kreia, as usual being the manipulative chessmaster with anyone she could, sent Atris a message through the Force: Betrayal. Atris, aghast, told her remaining handmaidens that Brianna had broken her oath and betrayed them... oh, and she had originally lied to them about Brianna's departure, saying that she had left on her own.

Although Brianna opened up to the Exile, she remained fairly secluded from the rest of the crew, taking up residence in the cargo hold and often sniping back-and-forth with the acerbic pilot Atton Rand and remaining wary of Visas. She spent most of her time training in the Echani forms while the ship was in hyperspace to keep her reflexes (and sanity) intact.

When the three Masters--Vrook, Zez-Kai Ell, and Kavar--had gathered at Dantooine, the Jedi Exile went to speak with them about the new Sith, her exile, and the things that had been kept from her. Brianna and Kreia accompanied her to the courtyard to wait. In the destroyed Council chamber, the Masters determined that the Exile was a "wound in the Force" who survived by feeding on the life of those around her. They decided to strip the Exile of the Force, but before their sentence could be completed Kreia stormed in, laid down an intense verbal smackdown on them, and executed them before coming back to lie--AGAIN--and tell Brianna that the Exile had been killed. And that she was a Sith.

Brianna immediately took Kreia to the Academy on Telos, intending to bring her there as a Sith to be executed. But when they arrived Kreia... got to Atris first and gave her a final nudge down the highly greased slope to the Dark Side that she had been slipping down since the end of the Mandalorian Wars. Also, Brianna's five sisters confronted Brianna, calling her a traitor and refusing to believe Brianna over Atris' lies, saying that Brianna had turned to the Dark Side. They fought, but Brianna managed to single-handedly inapacitate them all without killing them. (Meanwhile, Kreia had returned to her former identity as Darth Traya and traveled to Malachor V to complete her plan of destroying the Force.)

Atris arrived moments later, at first feigning concern, but her demeanor quickly changed. She attacked her former Handmaiden--though Brianna fought her briefly, Atris soon overwhelmed her with a barrage of Force Lightning, punctuated by bitter and jealous words. The Exile arrived at that moment, halting Atris' torture and defeating her in a duel. Afterwards, Brianna swore herself to the Exile, finally shedding the name of "Handmaiden" she had lived under since joining Atris' service.

The Jedi Exile took the Ebon Hawk to Malachor V, a shattered planet of the Dark Side and the last battlefield of the Mandalorian Wars. There the Ebon Hawk crash-landed. While the Exile traveled into the core of the Sith's Trayus Academy, the crew worked to free the ship and get it flying again... just in the nick of time, too. When the Exile killed her former mentor, the superweapon that had first crushed it was reactivated and the planet began to break apart. The Hawk swooped in and rescued the Exile, flying away.

The Exile, heeding Kreia's words, then took the droid T3-M4 and the Ebon Hawk, departing into the Unknown Regions to find the redeemed Revan. Brianna, along with the other Force Sensitives that she had found and trained on her journey, were left in the Republic to rebuild the Jedi Order.

ABILITIES:

Combat: As an Echani Brianna has trained since childhood in combat of all types. She's highly proficient in hand-to-hand combat and is quite at ease with big blasters, swords and other melee weapons, heavy armor, et cetera. Though the weaponry in ES is a little different than in the GFFA, she'd be able to adapt fairly quickly.

She also has a unique set of skills based on her Echani training, all centered around hand-to-hand combat. Basically, she can deal more damage more efficiently when she is fighting in unarmed combat than armed.

The Force: Now that she's accepted her connection to the Force, Brianna can sense people around her. Her talents with the Force lie mainly in combat (as opposed to other certain party members who are better with things like tracking people and psychic Force powers), so she can pick up and chuck things around. Some of her offensive Force abilities can be resisted or mitigated by characters with strong will. This is the list of Force abilities from within the game. Apart from Force Deflection and the Force sense itself, they all need unlocking.

Defensive

- Burst of Speed / Knight Speed: For 36 seconds, the Force aids Brianna to push her body beyond its physical limits, allowing her to run, attack, and defend at double her normal speed.
- Force Valor: Improves the physical attributes and defensive abilities (against physical or non-physical attacks) of Brianna and anyone she is fighting with for twenty seconds.
- Force Deflection: Allows Brianna to deflect ranged attacks without a lightsaber. Reflexive.
- Improved Force Barrier: Brianna is granted brief immunity to physical attacks (absorbing a small amount of the damage incurred from individual attacks; above that amount will occur as normal).
- Energy Resistance: Allows Brianna to absorb initial damage from energy, sonic, fire, cold and electrical attacks for 120 seconds.
- Force Heal: Allows Brianna to heal minor injuries on herself and those around her.

Offensive

- Force Jump: Brianna can leap up to ten meters to launch herself into battle.
- Force Push: Pushes the target back five meters and leaves them stunned for three seconds. It also hurts depending on what they land on.
-- Force Whirlwind: Picks up the target and whirls them in a small maelstrom of air and dust, incapacitating and hurting them for about fifteen to thirty seconds.
- Stun: Stuns the target for nine seconds--if she fails to outright stun them, they'll be slowed down for the same amount of time. Doesn't work on droids.
-- Stasis: The opponent targeted is immobilized for twelve seconds.
