**Switch**

Jen was more than excited to tell Marlow about Brady. However, a part of her felt a sort of hesitation. The fact that her best friend had once dated her now-boyfriend bothered her a bit.

She walked down the halls as she wondered whether or not Marlow would feel indifferent towards Jen's relationship. Soon she reached the Great Hall, and saw that Marlow was already there waiting for her.

"Hey!" Jen greeted her with a big grin.

[marlow]

Marlow looked up at the sound of Jen's voice and her eyes widened happily. It had been a very long time since she had seen Jen. Not since before school started.

She made a short mental note to see Jen more often and she walked closer to the girl.

"Hey!" she greeted in reply. Then she grinned wryly. "What's got you so hyper today?"

Jen teetered forwards and backwards on her heels, her hands behind her back.

"Oh," she said, "nothing really." She made no facial expression of any sort, but it was all just an act.

[marlow]

Marlow crossed her arms over her chest. She couldn't even stop herself from giggling slightly. So her act was failing, but she was still pretty damn interested in what made Jen so hyper.

"Big liar," she teased, sticking her tongue out.

Jen rolled her eyes and sighed dramatically. "Well, if I have to tell you..." she said, pausing a moment for suspense.

"Brady asked me to be his girlfriend."

So, she came out with it. Half of Jen hoped Marlow wouldn't feel awkward or mad. Half of her just hoped she'd be as excited as Jen was.

[marlow]

Oh.

Marlow wasn't sure how to respond. Something inside her froze. Whether it was because of a slight draft, or because Marlow surely hadn't expected this, she couldn't be sure of. All she knew was that she could feel as her mouth fell open.

"Oh, wow."

Jen bit her lip. She already regretted telling Marlow.

"Yeah..." she trailed off, her excitement suddenly subdued. She almost wanted to appologize for bringing it up.
