So, I stumbled across this article today about the most famous German inventions and felt really bad for not having known about the Germanness of just about all of these. In the spirit of post-world cup enthusiasm, I thought I'd share the most impressive ones (coffee filters, for instance, or tea bags! Hah!)

( Don't talk about the war! I talked about it once while I was over there but I think I got away with it. )

I think they picked people that were born in Germany, regardless of where they came up with their inventions, so maybe that explains the computer thing? I looked and found this - no idea how reliable this site is, but I think essentially, it comes down to what you define as the first computer (something I have no authority whatsoever to judge *g*)

I checked for the light bulb and if I get this right (the German terms are a bit fuzzy to translate) both versions are true; a Heinrich Göbel invented it in 1854 but failed to get the rights for it and 25 years later, Edison (without knowing about Göbel) came up with a slightly different, but essentially similar lightbulb. (Although the site I got the information off was German *g*)
... I am duly ashamed for not even thinking of Edison beforehand >_<

Chuck Norris shirt??? I want one! I'm sure your brother would love any of them. I'm particularly fond of the evolution one, probably only because I'm a biology major though. :)

Heh! Glad it's appealing to the female demographic as well! :D

I rather like the evolution one as well, but I'm really itching for the one about books... I think I'll probably go for one of the shorter ones in the end.

I really like your icon, btw! When's the new album due? Early next year?

Hahaha, you could market those puppies. I may have to make one myself! And that's true, the shorter it is, the better it'll fit on a shirt, too.

Thank you! I made it, but I used a boxy thing someone else made, haha, so I don't know how much credit is actually mine! :D I know it's due sometime in 2007, and hopefully sooner rather than later! I'm SO excited, haha!

I am also quite tempted to go with the "The Devil is a Lesbian" idea that emelerin suggested... decisions, decisions! *g*

I think I heard something about the album coming out in the first quarter of 07... we shall see! So exciting! There's always new Scissor Sisters music to tide us over :D
