day, n. a period of twenty-four hours, mostly misspent.

I meant to do this weeks ago, back at the start of Janaury.  A new year resolution post.  As with so many other things, I never got round to it, and now nearly two months have passed.  1/6 of 2012.

And a lot of stuff has happened.  Mostly around, but occasionally to, me.  My flatmates have cycled through an entire relationship with each other in doubletime, initial movement from just-friends with some shy hand-holding right through cinema trips, making each other dinner, on to several sleepovers in each other's rooms, before winding back down again with several arguments, a few bouts of silent treatment, and now once more just friends again.  It's been exhausting to watch.

My sister's in the early stages of a new relationship, too.  I say new; it is, to my knowledge, her first.  The girl who sits at the desk behind me in my uni office is about to come back from South Africa after a month over there, while my old flatmate is preparing to go to Nepal for her master's thesis.  And I teetered on the edge of something that rather swiftly came to nothing but a handful of what-ifs and a nagging regret.

The thing is, I want more to show for the rest of the year.  Lots of little things, obviously, but three big ones, and writing them down seems a good way of not letting myself back out.  I have an infuriating tendancy to just drift through day-to-day, week-to-week, and I don't want to look back in ten months and think, well, shit, all that time has passed and still nothing to show for it.

So.  By December 2012:
- Finish my master's thesis.  This is not optional, but, you know.  I'll be pretty proud of myself considering how slow it's been to get going.
- Get through some of my fic backlog.
- Lose weight.

It's not much, I know, but it'll do me fine.
