Happy 2007 and all that
New Year's Eve was fantastic, as I had predicted it to be. But, let's not get ahead of ourselves.
Saturday night I went on down to Meg's for her birthday get together. It was great seeing everyone and catching up with people. I can't believe it had pretty much been a year or more since I had last seen the likes of Abby and Rich. Overall it was a great night and it was tons of fun. I ended up leaving a little around 12ish and then I came home and crashed into bed like no one's business.
Woke up on Sunday and didn't do much of anything at all except watch my phone die and charge and then I started getting ready sometime around, I want to say, 7ish? It was after the Ugly Betty marathon ended. I had to catch on that show and I don't think I have the tapes anymore so this was the best way I could think of. And dear zod I love this frakkin show.
So after I had gotten showered and dressed and what not I headed down to Sarah's and picked her up and after a little pitstop to drop something off to her mom we were on the way to the party at her brothers' apartment.
The party was great, but I got way more drunk than I had been in a long time, which wasn't necessarily bad. So yeah, after about an hour of being there I had gone through six beers already, and that doesn't count beer pong, which we played twice. I was pretty gone by like 9:30/10:00, gone enough to start dialing like the drunkard I am. I think I just called BlondeMeg and talked to everyone that was at her house first, I didn't call anyone else til midnight.
There were some surprises to the party, for example: Derek and Cassandra. I knew that Derek knew people who knew Sarah's brothers, but I never even expected to see the two of them there for New Year's. We brought Ithaca back to Utica. It was hot. At midnight I popped open a bottle of something called Blue Hawiian, which doesn't have much alcohol in it, but it tastes fantastic.
Midnight is also when I started my calling spree. I called BlondeMeg again and talked to everyone, I think. I also called Kendra, Christian, Michele, Shayna, J-Ho, Cortney, Michelle, BlondeMeg again at 1:09 for some reason, Corky, and Dawn. And Sara called me too, and it was lovely hearing her voice. But really, I only remember calling Blondie the first two times, Kendra, Christian, Shayna and Michelle.
My one big regret for the end of 2006? Not getting to see said Michelle before she left for Spain. I called her in hopes of talking to her before she left yesterday morning, but instead I got her voicemail and left her one last patented DrunkScottyVoicemail. I hope she has a wonderful time in Spain, and I miss her already!
Ok, so the night continued on until about 4:30 when I finally laid down on the couch, but didn't really sleep. I got a few minutes of sleep here and there, but I really didn't actually get any quality sleep until I got home at 11 and slept til 4.
So yeah, my New Years kind of rocked. And it actually didn't involve me walking home at 4 AM or peeing on a snow covered car (long story) but now that I think about the night more it did almost involve me falling off a broken balcony. Crazy, crazy.
In other news, one year ago today is when I got in that accident. I can't believe a year has gone by and what I can't believe more is that I still can't really remember much of anything that happened that night before the ride to the hospital and after leaving the casino. It's like that whole chunk of time just never existed. But yeah, here's hoping that 2007 starts off a little better than 2006 did.
