Grimm Review - 3 Coins TEN REASONS TO LOVE IT.

Mar 03, 2012 01:01

First off, let’s get the disclaimer out of the way first. I haven’t done a proper TV review since, way back, when I was into Supernatural and the world was filled with fake apocalypses and Dean and Cas were Dean and Cas. So, this may or may not be up to my usual standard.

Bright side.

You guys have never seen any of my TV reviews so y’all won’t know if I’ve actually gotten worse at these things.

Click past the cut for my ramblings on tonights Grimm Episode. SPOILERS AHOY!

Three Coins in a Fuchsbau

TONIGHTS EPISODE? \O/ ***EXCUSE ME WHILE I FLAIL***

Things I liked: (other than lists obviously)

1. Renard’s Dream - I mean, did you guys see the flags that were waving? Obviously those are the flags of Renard’s House. (Did anyone else think they sort of looked like Lions? And did y’all notice that they looked just like the image of the coins - or am I seeing things?) Or maybe that was the coins influence on Renard. I don't even know guys.

2. Hank - he was just... Russell Hornsby, why so awesome? I mean I loved how he switched his acting for Hank as soon as he touched those coins... and then the look on his face when Nick was talking to Mr. Frowney (my official name for the dude who had a part in killing Nick’s parents, because I don’t remember what his name was in the show and I feel too lazy for Google right now) about his parents. I was like, “Dude, Nick, You do realize that your partner is going to be sitting you down real soon for a strong talk about all the crap your keeping from him.

3. Juliette - she google-foo’d stuff for Nick. I mean, what says “I love you” better than than doing your significant other’s spy work for them? (Is it just me or does she get prettier every episode?)

4.Monroe is such a nerd - And he totally stayed up all night looking for those old projectors. I also got the impression that he was lying to Nick about not knowing about those coins, but that could just be me and my wishful thinking that Monroe somehow get’s a hold of them and does “things.”

5. The Coroner Lady - Yeah, I was yelling at the TV that she better not die during the episode. She is way too hilarious and just amazing for them to kill her off - though I was really worried that, that was what was going to happen to make way for a prettier, younger replacement Coroner. So glad that didn’t happen. Especially since I’ve got it in my head that she’s giving Nick lessons in Trolling 101, and Hank’s reaping the benifet, not that he’d call it that.

6. I thought it was funny, and also a good insight into both Hank and Renard’s characters, that when Hank touched the coins he got a little too into being a good cop (he was overzealous with the suspect, but he still wanted to solve the case) and when Renard held the coins he was totally set into taking over the city (also he made excellent speeches - I mean, if I were listening to him, I would have cheered).

7. About Renard: That scene when Nick’s checking on Renard after the “bird dude” (I have got to get my names down) took the coins from him, that was just... guh. Renard was begging Nick to get the coins back for him. That just... well, that just shows a little insight into how Renard views Nick IMHO. (That said, we should all realize that those coins were like the worst sort of drug for a person, Renard & Hank got drunk on power pretty quickly, so one could make an argument that Renard was coming down off a high and he was acting like a junkie. ...but I still like my interpretation better.)

8. Nick - He was a bit of a badass tonight, wasn’t he? When Bird Dude went at him he was like “Uh, No” and just smacked him down. Fandom Gods: Can we please have more badass Nick in our lives? Also Smart Nick, because when Nick is smart he get’s a lot sexier. Not that he isn’t sexy in the first place. But still, there’s something to be said for a man with brains.

9. WU IS BACK! WU IS BACK! *HAPPYDANCE*

10. We got background on Marie, and Nick’s parents and OMG Marie was engaged to a creature! (Now I’m a little confused. Was Marie a Grimm at the time that she was engaged or did she inherit her powers after her sister died. Because I’m wondering if maybe say when Nick’s grandparents died both Nick’s Mom and his Aunt came into their inheritance. I mean, that’s what it sounded like to me) -- Why do I get the feeling that I’m going to work tonights episode into “Prayers for Satan”? I totally am... Well, at least I have room to sort of work it in - even if it’ll still be a bit AU.

11. JFC that last scene. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm still a little lot creeped out. Shit, dudes, what if Renard is the same type of creature - despite me wanting him desperately to be a fox? Freaky.

Okay, so this review just turned into a bit of a top ten list. Eh, next time, I’ll be a bit more coherent, and come with the thinky-thoughts. Tonight was just about the flailing and rambling. Also: RENARD! My love for Nick/Renard has been reinforced tenfold after this episode. (and why is my guilty pleasure to somehow genderbend things too? Because Girl!Nick/Renard would be so hot in the context of this episode... almost as hot as just regular old Nick/Renard... but still.)

I’ll try to do another of these next week, but no promises.

Also: funfact, until it’s proven otherwise, Mauzhertz like Marty are totally the historians of the Wesen world.

And clearly fix-it fic needs to be done where Nick actually knows how to destroy those coins instead of fail at hiding them (or at least hide them better). Must resist temptation.
