The caress on my cheek woke me up. I was now staring at his face as he was staring lovingly back at me. I tried to get up but he gestured that I don't, I shouldn't because he had breakfast ready in front of me, with freshly picked daisies on the tray. How could I argue? He continued by feeding me a few spoonfuls of hot soup and then wiped some off the side of my mouth with his handkerchief.

"Thank you" I said but he just smiled at me and moved a little bit closer. I could even hear the banging of my heart as his stare just melted my sanity away. He was still inches apart from me but I could almost feel his hot breath on my face. All I could do was just gulp.
Every single cell in my body was giving me a tingling sensation that could probably kill me and I just felt so hot inside...hot...hot...hot like sun...sunshine to be exact because when I woke up I was swimming in my own sweat.

Today was a sunnier day and my roommate left the window open, just enough to actually fry me. I thought of what I surprisingly and awkwardly dreamt of last. I could almost believe that it was real. But why in the world did I even dream of something like that? I swear it wasn't even in my subconscious.

She looked at the clock beside her bed. It said 10am and she remembered they had something like community immersion by 8am today. But she was left alone in their room with not even a note to be seen anywhere.

Just some fresh fruits in a basket at the doorstep when she decided to come out and ask why everybody left her.
It pissed her when she knew from some valet at the main entrance that they headed off to pick some strawberries in some local community. She wanted to somehow try stuff like that. Stuff that normal people get to do on random days. But what pissed her most was the feeling of being left alone...again. All those years...but she wasn't able to develop immunity against this kind of pain.

Empty...but why did it hurt so much when no one was there?
__

"I'd like another hot cup of choco please."

She wasn't even surprised when somebody else passed her that cup. The older guy wasn't even paying attention to her.

But she had to ask.

"Where's the guy who was on duty last night?"

The man at the counter looked up and exchanged glances with the bartender on duty today. They both kind of agreed with something.

"Kei, someone's looking for you."

__

She was unconsciously tapping the table in boredom.

"What else do you want miss?"

The guy named Kei was nice and all but it was now pretty obvious that she wanted something else. Someone else rather.

She bit her tongue. "Uhm, I know I'll sound stupid here but I am a hundred percent sure somebody else was serving here last night and maybe-"

"Oh." Now that he understood what she actually came for, he gestured that he was to whisper something. She followed.

"You see miss I had to go do some personal emergencies and had a friend cover for me on my duty hours last night...So he's-"

"Not here. I get it. Okay. Thanks."

She pushed a bill towards him for the drink and cookies she had and made her way to the door.

Now she felt the loneliest of all. It was like walking on the streets of some foreign country.

"Hey, hey wait!" He was immediately behind her. "My friend's somewhere around the resort. You could check the rooftop. It's where he usually spends his afternoons."
__

She put down the basket of fruits she decided to bring along and gazed at the wide, blue sea in front of them. The rooftop was one good place to do sight-seeing.

"What are you doing here?"

"I was just looking for someone to talk to, you know." With all honesty.

He didn't like it when people occupied his private space. But this time around, he wasn't the slightest of annoyed.
She started peeling some fruits and munching into them like it was the only sane thing left to do.

"So the fruits did help you get better huh."

She looked back at him. Really? These were from him?

Her questioning look prompted him to say something else.

"Aren't you supposed to like rest or something? You had one high fever last night and I can't believe your boyfriend allowed you to walk under this heat."

"Fever? Boyfriend? BOYFRIEND, WHAT?"

He blinked and laughed hard at her...at himself rather.

"So the guy's not your boyfriend...And he's one to act, really!"

She was all the more confused. What in the world was this person talking about?
__

I have to say, he really is a nice and cool guy. A little bit creepy, though, when he keeps on reminding me to get rest and stay out of the sun and eat more fruits.I was never really accustomed to these kinds of acts of kindness. I always thought people were nice to me because I was his daughter. It's either that or because they're paid to do so.

But for someone who actually do not know about me, it makes me feel at ease.

The sudden beeping of his phone startled me. I was not eavesdropping. It was just that if not the waves, his voice was the only sound I could hear.

Something about "everything is fine" and "I got it all under control". Like mafia lingo.

"Hey, I didn't get your name."

He flipped back his phone and looked at me before standing up from where we were seated.

"Yabu Kota. You're friends just arrived. You might want to join them."

Finally. People. Not that I didn't like his company. But just people. Just him.
__

He went straight to her hotel room and when he saw her coming down from the other side with someone following behind, his eyebrows creased. He didn't like it.

"Where have you been?" He had to act cool about this.

"I'm supposed to ask you that. You left me Yaotome." Like literally.

The guy behind her was just holding back his sarcastic giggles and this punched him in the guts. Pride.

"Sensei said you had to rest some more. What are you doing out here in this heat?"

"I was bored. Thanks to you guys. You didn't even leave a note!" She sounded hurt. Well, it was just the true feelings she had.

And before he could say anything more, she slammed the door in his face.
__

The sound of her roommate's blower somehow calmed her after that semi-heated argument outside her door.

She felt bad for talking to him like that, which surprised her. Since when did "talking back" make her feel guilty anyway?

Someone just knocked on their door and her roommate brought back another basket of fruits which now had some wild flowers in it.

"He's kinda extra caring, huh."

"It's creepy, you know."

"And you two get along so fast. I am impressed."

"Surprisingly, he's easy to be with. I mean, he's actually nice and friendly and come on, I just met him last night."

The sound of the blower stopped.

"You got it all wrong Namikawa." She was half-smiling at Ren.

"I meant Yaotome."

A moment of silence and probably some processing....

Her roommate had to say things clearly.

"Yaotome-kun left early today to get you fruits and then headed down to the village to buy you medicine. He was not even at the strawberry farm."

Processing....

"And these..." She held out the basket. "are from him too. It says genki dasette~"

Information overload and then she ran out of her room.
