Summary: He lost her...somewhere in Brooklyn.
A/N: Unbeta-ed. Always. Long due fic for my other half, April. Just found the flash drive with the original file so yeah. Hehe.
Got, not just the title, but almost everything from Bruno Mars' Somewhere In Brooklyn.
Busy streets, busy people. It reminded him of Japan...Tokyo with all those lights. He increased his pace when the signal said Go. It wasn't nice being caught up in all this foot traffic.
Third day of his vacation. Almost everyone in JUMP were in Hawaii. But this time he and his good buddy Keito decided to skip the tanning.
New York. Sure it was no city of love, but when he trotted the place, it gave him this pleasant and comforting feeling. He appreciated it the more when he could just walk out in the streets without people screaming, flailing and running after him. Because you get a lot of that when you're a Yuto Nakajima.
But this time he can finally be himself on this foreign ground. Nobody telling him what and what not to do.

Keito had plans of buying a whole music studio. And he was just very supportive of a friend to come along and give some suggestions. But the English boy was worried if his friend wasn't enjoying his vacation because so far, he had just been tagging along without mentions of anything he wanted to do.
Yuto simply smiled and answered that he was okay but Keito insisted and gave him a piece of advice.
"Somebody told me you could find love in Brooklyn."

He pulled up his hoodie and ran to the subway when rain started to pour. With headphones still on his ears, he squeezed himself through that crowded place. "Excuse me" and "Getting through" until he found some benches at the end of the subway. He had to thank Keito for painstakingly teaching him basic English conversations. He was a fast learner though.
Actually, he didn't have big plans for today - things like visiting a museum or eating at a famous restaurant. He was just following where his feet took him. It was surprisingly fun being unorganized for once in his life. He didn’t even follow Keito’s advice. What would he be doing in Brooklyn anyway?
Minutes passed, still no plans. People started to fill those benches and he willingly stood up for a granny to sit down. Once a gentleman, always a gentleman.
But he thanked God for granny because if not for her he wouldn't be standing beside little miss perfect, who was wearing red Nike high tops, the ones Daiki was blabbering about before they left for vacation. And funny coz they have the same headphones on and he could hear that she was listening to hip-hop even if she was about 5 inches shorter. He looked like an idiot just staring at her and when she noticed it, she couldn't help but giggle.

He started with complimenting her fashion statement. He gold leather jacket would never come unnoticed. She thanked him and frankly told him she liked his beautiful black hair. He could probably die of either extremely blushing or by just melting into her pretty dimples when she smiled.
You don't get to rub elbows with a goddess on random days...
He was about to get her name when the train came along. Instinct told him he had to get on that train too.
"Next stop Brooklyn!"
"Excuse me" and "Getting through" just to find her. Her gold leather jacket would never come unnoticed but why wasn't she around? He looked around again and again but nothing. He wanted to punch himself for not grabbing her hand when everybody came rushing to the train. Because he lost her in the cold.

Keito was sipping in his hot choco while staring outside the veranda when his phone beeped.
"Can't come with you today.”
“You cancelled twice already.”
“Sorry. I got a train to catch. Looking for someone.”
“Again? “
“I’ll be in Brooklyn today.”
“Haha. Are you following my advice now?”
“Shut up Kei-chan.”
“You can join us for dinner then. We have some visitors from Japan.”
“I’ll try. Thank you.”
He smiled and tucked the phone back in his robe. There was something familiar with that message.

I lost her in the cold
It’s unfair, she's out there
Somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn
She’s somewhere, somewhere, somewhere in Brooklyn

He was kicking rocks on the street...the same block that he was circling since yesterday. There were times when he checked out every corner shop just in case... Or tapping people's shoulders asking stupid questions like "Have you seen a girl in a gold, leather jacket wearing red Nike high tops?" He had to give it a try because that was all he got. And the train stop was his only hope.

Ohhh
I wonder will we ever meet again
Yeah...I wonder if we'll ever meet again
I hope we do somewhere in Brooklyn

“Where are you? Did you forget that we’re supposed to have dinner with my Dad?”
“Sorry. I don’t know why, but I’m here in Brooklyn.”
“Brooklyn? What are you doing there?”
Crap. He was so preoccupied that he forgot that Kenichi Okamoto was joining them for dinner.
“I’ll be there in 10 minutes. Save a seat for me please.”
Keito sighed as he closed his phone and went back inside the restaurant. He has to stall his Dad and the guests. But they were busy talking to each other; they even forgot to order food.
__
“I’m sorry. My friend was caught in the traffic. But he’s coming. I shouldn’t have let him wander around by himself. I don’t know how he ended up in Brooklyn.”
“Brooklyn?”
“Yup. Yesterday he left early and came back late. Now he’s in Brooklyn. I don’t even know what he’s up to.”
“…”
“You said you were in Brooklyn earlier. Did you find the person you were looking for?”
__
They could hear him apologizing to Keito’s dad and the guests. But Kenichi-san was cool about it. He understood pretty well that a first-timer could easily get lost in a big city like New York.
He joined them at the table and sat beside Keito and his dad and in front of the girl he was looking for all these times. She was grinning at him from across the table and his heart just fluttered at the sight of her. He could barely pick up his chopsticks. And for the whole duration of the dinner he couldn’t help but look at her - taking all the time he could stare at her because he finally found her.
__
“You didn’t tell me you actually know her!”
“How in the world would I know that you were looking for her? You didn’t even tell me about it!”
The guys were hissing under their breaths and hiding behind the counter when her family was thanking Kenichi-san for the lovely Japanese cuisine. They haven’t tasted it in years since they left Japan.
“You must introduce me to her Keito!”
“Alright, alright. Just chill okay?”
“It took me 2 days to look for her and I won’t throw away this chance!”
“You didn’t actually believe it when I said that you-“
“-could find love in Brooklyn?” She was behind them, arms crossed, and smiling with the most beautiful dimples he had ever laid eyes on.
Speechless. Even Keito because he didn’t know what good to say in situations like this.
“Hey, I believed you Kei-chan! I spent the whole day yesterday looking for you.” She pointed at Yuto.
He blinked.
“Really? Coz I was out the whole day looking for you too.”
“Why didn’t I see you? And I even went to Brooklyn because I thought you lived there. You boarded the train to Brooklyn.”
Keito sighed and left them. His piece of advice for both might just work…he just didn’t like awkward situations like this.
“Because you rode on it too. I didn’t have plans to go to Brooklyn. I just followed you.”
“No I didn’t. I stayed behind because I thought you were asking for my name and maybe you would want to talk to me more or something.”
“I was asking for your name when the train came and…”
She got bored with the conversation getting nowhere and tiptoed to shut him up with a kiss.
Slightly surprised but he was planning to do the same if the talk went on. She just beat him to it.
Her arms climbed their way up and locked them behind his long neck while his arms pulled her closer to him. No way were they having a meet and greet session. They waited for two days to feel like this.
She gently broke off the kiss.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t get a name.”
“Keito was supposed to do the introducing but…Nakajima Yuto. Yoroshiku.”
