shouldn't have complained about being busy, as we're stuck in beirut now, for the time being, with not all that much to distract us from scary news broadcasts all day long, and the sound of explosions and gunfire keeping us up at night.
power is on and off all over the city, but the campus has its own generator, which is reassuring. so i've got a request for anyone reading this:
i've been away from fanfic for what feels like ages, but if anyone has any recs for really really distracting stories, i'd be awfully grateful. (i'm stuck in the past and i still ship harry/draco, well as frodo/sam, but i'd also give anything new a try at this point.)
if you're not into fanfic, are there any books that really got you by the scruff of the neck recently? the last book i read that completely took me out of myself was "the hours." if i could find something else like that to read now, it would be lovely. i was working on "slaughterhouse five" when this whole thing started, and i stopped because it really didn't seem like the right book for the ocassion. i'll pick it up again when things settle down (inshallah).
until then, please, rec away.
