something crazy:
last week i bought a mouthguard, took my knee brace off the shelf, and attended my first rugby practice. it's hella weird- the ball is shaped funny and the rules are totally incomprehensible... nothing like any sport i've played before.
it's also hella fun, though. we had to pair off to practice tackling, one new person for each veteran. i got paired with the captain, and she was this cute polynesian-looking girl with olympic-sprinter's legs. threw me on the ground and brushed her hands off like it was nothing. holy bama. and when we scrimmaged it was even more disorienting, i mean the idea that these totally average little girls can pack all this freight-train-momentum into one impact.
supposedly if you tuck your limbs towards the person who attacks you, you can avoid serious injury. (hahaha, can you tell that boys invented this sport?) nevertheless, my jury-rigged ACL makes me nervous. I do have health insurance now; I might as well take advantage, right?
