ATTN Music Snobs!

Jan 08, 2009 21:00

LJ friends, I need your help!

I want to incorporate music in the classroom I'm in. Particularly,  music I can tolerate. The teacher plays them New Age type stuff and it bores me to death.

If you know of any kid/school friendly songs that are by bands and musicians that would be tolerable, please let me know. I'm having trouble finding things that don't have bad words, innuendos, etc.  Different genres are welcome, even older stuff.

Any and all suggestions are welcome. Providing me with the mp3's would also be extremely helpful, but you don't have to.

Thanks!

I'm sure I won't get any response to this,  so you should try to think of one out of pity. :)

Dancing Queen - ABBA - to incorporate dancing, k-2 class
While You  Were Sleeping - Elvis Perkins
Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness - Smashing Pumpkins (instrumental)  - for quiet time/transitions, k-2 class
The Young Machines - Her Space Holiday (instrumental) - for quiet time/transitions, k-2 class
Aeroplane Over the Sea - Neutral Milk Hotel
Window Bird - Stars (double check lyrics)
? - The Flaming Lips
Chicago -  Sufjan Stevens -  9-12 class
? - The Beatles
? - The Postal  Service - 9-12 class

Maybe use all older, possibly familiar songs for k-2 class...  i.e. oldies, classic rock, or eighties?
Use popular/familiar songs and songs they might like for 9-12

Blah blah blah...
