The flight out to San Francisco was quite uneventful, however choosing to get ahead in classes by reading September Day was not a good idea. It is a bit unsettling to sit in the very back of an United Airlines 767 in crazy turbulence while reading about passengers in the back of an United Airlines 767 having no clue that they were hijacked on September 11th. I was sitting next to two guys, we each had some nifty electronic thing with earphones to keep us busy. When we heard the seatbelt sign come on we started shutting things down. The flight attendant then started yelling at us for not having that done already. Yeah, like we can really hear her soft announcemet while playing gmaes. Why can't they ever be nice about telling people to turn their stuph off?

I got in and met up with Heather, Jon and Jama. We headed down to Monteray to see some tide pools. We drove along the coastal highway and there were people soaring all along the way. After about an hour and a half, Heather found the map and found that we were only half way there. We kept going, drove through the salinas valley. The should have some of very touristy thing where you can get your picture taken with Lenny, Slim, and the gang. We checked out a fisherman's wharf in some town and there was a Turkish Festival going on. We got to the beach, but it was high tide. Yeah, we forgot to check the tide tables as well. We did get to walk around and it was very nice. I was very impressed and happy that the california kids had no problems with sea weeds. In fact, I saw a kid make one into a horn.

Monday, Jama and I went to Golden Gate Park. The botanical garden was quite interesting, but they were watering everything and it felt like a real life video game avoiding the sprinklers. Dinner was Indian. It was some really good stuph. I'm quite inspired to try cooking Indian food.

Tuesday we went to Fisherman's Wharf. We jumped the gun getting off the train, and walked from the ferry building to the wharf. Peir 39 and the wharf were kind of interesting, but it was pretty much just tourist shops and restaurants. We did go to the historical ship area and I got to check out a nifty sailboat. Dinner was Thai, also very good. Heather lives only about 2 blocks from The Castro (the gay neighborhood), so she took us for a walk through that neighborhood. It was quite interesting, establishments like "Hot Cookie", "Hot Hunky Burger", "Moby Dick", "The Sausage Factory", and "Sit and Spin Laundry".

Wednesday, Heather didn't work, so she took us up telegraph hill and then to china town. China town was interesting, but totally packed with tourists and it's really a place to buy things. We had Dim Sum for lunch and I successfully managed to use chop sticks. After lunch we were found our way to the oldest Taoist temple in the U.S. Dinner was really nice food that doesn't really fit any category. Afterwards we went on a little pubcrawl. We started at The Lime for moehetos. It's a good drink (it seems like it's Jon's favorite) but I don't like the club soda. I didn't notice that we were in the castro, but I caught on when I noticed that it looked like a middle school dance, groups of girls dancing together and guys sitting and talking to eachother. On the way towards the house, Jon joked about a bar named "Lucky 13". I commented on 13 really being a lucky number for me, so we stopped in for a couple of drinks. We finished the night at the Corronado.

Thursday was museum day. Jama and I went to the Museum of Modern Art. We had a good time and in the gift shop, Jama found the perfect thing for me, Mechanical Paper. It's a model made from paper that moves when the crank is turned. We also checkedo out a cool toy store at Market and 3rd. Lots of fun. We had seafood for dinner and then got Hot Cookie. Jama pointed out the Hot Cookie underware for sale. I thought that it would be really fun to make my roommates uncomfortable by walking around the house in a pair, but then i realized that I could accomplish the same thing with my current underware. I don't htink that i'll do that to them tho.

Friday we visited Jon's lab and then got sushi for lunch. I again negotiated the chopsticks very well, but I couldn't handle so much unfamiliarity at once, so i drank coke. For dinner we got burritos from Pancho Villa, which Jon promised would make me wonder who chipotle gets away with selling vomit in a tortilla. Jon never had chipotle, and the burrito wasn't really supperior. It was quite good, and most likely more authentic; I had to practice my spanish.

Flying home sucked

I only have to wait untill thursday to see jama again!
