Did any of you read about the fourth grader, Ian Sotnek, who donated half of his life savings (55 bucks) to the Georgetown Library? Way to go Ian! This kid is my hero
( Read more... )
Who are you to say that we are not doing enough ? We are going to school, we are the future, whether we are the future managers of a company, CEO's, or minimum wage workers, we are the future. You can't expect that the world can run if all positions are not filled. You are acting like we have to be the prodigy of america. If you are so into the betterment of this country and this town, why dont you try and mobilize and educate the people that have dropped out. We are doing our part and going to this school and doing homework, taking tests, participating in lectures. Yes we may not be the most active and most helpful to the community but we are doing what we are suppose to do.
Just think about that. And what now comment to the Christina B. comment ? I have much more respect for the people that help her in everyday life than that kid donating money to the library.

In one future, there will be fewer managers and CEO's, and more minimum wager workers. That is the future that scares the crap out me. Kids in China and India are more hungry than we are to succeed. Granted they deserve more.
And guess what, you do need to behave as if we are the prodigy of America. But you also need to recognize the responsibility you have to the kids behind you in school. I do my part Logan, away from here, and I want to do more. You're a bright guy Logan, why not sure that.
Finally, I am guessing that, given Ian's generosity as a fourth grader, he will be the kind of kid who grows to help others like Christina.

Yes, im lazy, ok. Good one, I dont more heavy lifting at my job in one day that you will do in a month at your job, that is if you have one ?
Oh but wait dont try and say not lazy physically, but involvement wise, because it doesnt faze me. Go ahead, really, mister "I think i'm 42 years old, and I will mobilize these teenagers by belittling them."
Dude you are mistaken on so many different levels....

Based on experiences with you in the past (and you do know me), and what I have seen from you here, I think I have you pretty well pegged. You are emotionally and intellectually lazy.

Dude, dont give me that. You are not my friend, you dont know me as a person. You are just another poser who thinks they know everything about everyone and everything

Dude, really who are you to judge the actions of others, I dont know Christina very well, but I surea s hell she is more of a better person than you. I see you trying to "change" our views and how we act or what we do. You my friend, are quite the ignorant one. What even gives you the right to utter the 5 letters that make my name, you are hiding behind the computer screen and typing your ridiculous comments and feelings. Who are you to say that Christina needs help ? Who are you to say what is and is not important.
You should take a look in the mirror and simmer with this friggen crusade of yours.

Mark my words, Logan, ten years from now, I will be there in the back of your head. I am not trying to change the way you think, I have changed the way you think.

I have very little to comment on. It's really a very frivolous reason, because I have no desire to hash and re-hash the trouble we are or are going to go through do to off-shoring and the like. Not for lack of concern, it's just that it involves me thinking about a subject that relates to my Current Affairs class. You would probably just about die in that class (actually, anyone probably would), I know *I* feel like banging my head against the desk almost everyday I'm in there (for details, see the beginning of my entry for March 31st)
Anyway, I'm just commenting to say thank you for using my favorite quote in your subject. It made my day, even if inadvertantly. Henry David Thoreau is a very interesting author to read.

Bang your head in that class? That class is the best one I got all day, aside from the reading from Newsweek magazine. I'm gonna miss everyon there when I go to school.
Stay young while you can, if you mature too fast you'll be the first one of us to die.

sorry if I enjoy actually *learning* something rather than hearing about sports all period. Seriously, I can't stand some of the stupidity spouted in that class. I would rather be mature and care than immature and ignorant. It's fine that you like that class, but it is equally fine that I can't stand it. Also, I feel that I am as mature as one should be at our age. If you think that *that* class is at a good maturity level then I feel sorry for you.
Just think about that. And what now comment to the Christina B. comment ? I have much more respect for the people that help her in everyday life than that kid donating money to the library.
