Restlessness and discontent are the first necessities of progress.

I have been giving the idea of a strike some more thought. I am convinced that with a carefully honed message faxed out the various Boston newspapers and radios, along with NPR, CBS, etc., you could get national news attention. It would be impossible for the administration to ignore you. Add in your parents, and you could control the Board of ( Read more... )

if you hear me talking...listen to what i'm not saying. jennytenny March 23 2004, 20:47:05 UTC
1) I did not say you were an idiot.

2) I don't think your education or any town's education is a small deal.

3) How does making a deal out of public education show that I really am from Georgetown? Explain that one please.

4) I understand the education we receive at Georgetown is not bad. If you've read some of my previous posts i've defended the education i've received. I enjoyed my time at GHS and i feel as though i got the most out of what they had to offer.

5) I understand people from Georgetown don't end up on the street. I understand that people from Georgetown go to college.

6) I never said that i wanted "yale at Georgetown" and i never implied that. Once again...if you read my earlier posts you would have noted that I don't care about the name of the school. I care about the quality of the education the student receives and the willingness of the student to achieve the greatest amount of knowledge capable.

7) If we wanted a more advanced education...yes...we could go to private school. But not everyone can afford a private school. Definitely not my parents. Not everyone can afford that.

8)I have already graduated from GHS. However, my sister still goes there...and this debate is more about Public Education in general...not just GHS. Once again...if you've read any of my other posts...i feel as though work in Lawrence and Haverhill is just as or more important as any other public school. I think public schools in the US in general need to have the bar raised. This is not a high school phase. This is something that is universal and anyone of any age can have a say in it.

9) I never wanted Mr. Fox to lose his job. Because I'm not in the school this year...i know nothing of the new administration except from what i have heard 2nd hand. I didn't make any judgements on him. I simply asked Logan how Mr. Fox has affected him through different questions. It wasn't an attack on Mr. Fox..it was simply an inquiry.

10) I refuse to "move on in life" when the issue is about something i am passionate about. I am passionate about public education reform...i am passionate about social justice...i am passionate about prison reform...i can continue the list if you want. This isn't small town politics. This is stuff that affects people everywhere everyday. It is something i care about and i refuse to "move on in life" if that means giving up the activism that i am passionate about.

Peace and love

Im not even going to comment fully on this because it isnt really worth my time....

But If you would have read through all the posts yourself you would realize my who post wasnt directed towards you....thats just how you took it I guess, if it was directed at just you I would have stated that. On 3 I was saying in general people in this town make WAY to much out of things....such as this whole post! In my mind its rediculous! Thats my opinions and I am more than entitled to it. If you want to do something about it...then do it! Stop with all the talk, its just creating tension. Thats all! My post was just put out there....dont take things so personally.

The nice thing about egotists is that they don't talk about other people. icanseeformiles March 23 2004, 20:57:15 UTC
You are right - your posts were only about yourself.

Well..i assumed it was directed at me because you started out with one of my quotes. I'm sorry for making assumptions.

And I hope your eye gets better.

ps. There needs to be talk (debate and discussion) before there is action...for anything.
