Seems I've touched a nerve. Good. Let me approach my point from a slightly different angle. Clearly there are folks in the '03 class that have done well, like Sara, and others that have chosen less traditional paths. However, when you look at the distribution of colleges, as a whole, that the '03 class is attending, it stacks up poorly with other highschools in our area. Sara should not be an outlying point, she should have been accompanied by other GHS classmates. The failure of the classes of the past rests with three groups. First, the GHS teachers and counselors at the school. Apparently they do not push students hard enough nor instill in seniors the confidence to at least try. Second, the parents - same complaint as the teachers. Third, perhaps greatest, the '03 students for settling for less than they are capable of attaining. I suspect I will be making the same statements when they publish where the '04 class is going.
And Becca, if you don't like what I am saying, then you and the '05 class should prove me wrong. Otherwise, expect to hear my voice in your ear when you are 30 and ringing produce at the Bucket.
It has always been the prerogative of children and half-wits to point out that the emperor has no clothes. But the half-wit remains a half-wit, and the emperor remains an emperor.
