But let's be serious for a moment. What was the best college that accepted someone from the GHS class of 2004? Let me be frank, the list of colleges that the 2003 class headed off for was, in a word, disappointing. I really don't want yet another crop of Georgetown grads bitching and complaining that I don't pay my fair share of taxes because I ( Read more... )

point out some success stories?

how about the girl's basketball team playing at the fleet?
or sara watson going to harvard?
or jess shea going to art all state?
or katie z and kerry and michelle being picked as some of the best high school musicians in the state?
how about hilary joyner getting to go to college for free because she worked hard for 4 years?
how about the girl's 4x4 team making it to Easterns?

just because you're a failure, doesn't mean there's no successes in georgetown.

Who says he/she is a failure? Maybe they are just having some fun...

Now that I said that everyone is once again going to assume it's me doing all this...then once again I will say it isn't and I would never have the time and the energy to do all this...

If Sara went to Harvard... icanseeformiles March 15 2004, 19:25:25 UTC
then I humbly apologize to her for thinking not one of the class of '03 got into a top tier school. However, I still stand my accusation that the list of schools the Record published was pathetic...

I'm not a fan of Sara basically because she said my school wasn't the same class as Harvard. In other words Midway is a piece of crap and Harvard is the shit...haha

With all do respect...Midway isn't the same class as Harvard. Sara is stating a fact. Just as Drew University isn't the same class as Harvard. Princeton and Yale are the same class as Harvard.

Saying that does not mean "in other words" that Midway (or even Drew) is a "piece of crap and Harvard is the shit."

These facts are purely based on the Princeton Review and the general opinion of colleges. Also prestige and age. Harvard has been around a lot longer than Midway or Drew. By those standards...Harvard is not necessarily BETTER than Midway or Drew.

Each college has its positive and negative atributes. Some colleges work for some and not for others. It all depends on what you're looking for.

Midway has what you are looking for so it is "the shit" for you. Drew University has what I am looking for so it is "the shit" for me.

Its all relative.

So this is a Harvard bar, huh? I thought there'd be equations and shit on the wall. icanseeformiles March 15 2004, 19:40:26 UTC
With all due respect to Sara, who obviously strived for her dreams, and Astrid who chose a path that, let's face it, is not a major at Ivy league school but nevertheless admirable - what about the rest of you?? Am I going to be chiding the class of '06 the way I am going after '05? Are you going to get into great colleges or greate collages?

You're sitting on a winning lottery tickey and you're too big of a pussy to cash it in.

If God took college seriously he never would have created Brown University icanseeformiles March 17 2004, 15:04:07 UTC
Wow. Hit the redline on the egotistical bitch meter with that one. You are naive if you really believe that going to GHS gave you better perspective on how to deal with the every day world. I might agree with you if you going to spend your life working at the Bucket, but I assume we are being realistic here and assuming that you are going to get an "adult" job after college.

I agree. I believe the only way you can get a great perspective on the world and what the world is really thinking is to travel. I have learned so much by traveling around the States but I have learned much more from my cousins and family when I go to Holland yearly. GHS is a little bubble that borders a real world perspective but to really understand what the world is thinking and acting like you need to travel and talk with people all around the world.

At least thats how I see things.

what happen to jess, katie, kerry and michelle? Those are the types of things good colleges look for. Where did they end up? Or did they and the GHS system sell themselves short?
