I caught a glimpse of him as I strutted through the overcrowded bar, “Lock eyes from across the room down my drink, while the rhythms boom,” the song playing loudly over the top of the thousands of conversations which took place behind me. He flipped his dusty blonde hair back; I force myself to stop staring at the figure, he seemed so irresistible, I couldn’t stop even if I tried. His face seemed so gentle yet his gaze said he knew more than he wanted. If looks could kill I’d be dead, his cold dark eyes pierced right through my neck as I made my way to the bar. He didn’t show any signs of remorse as he smiled. My back facing him I finally let out a sigh of relief, “what will it be,” the bar tender said shooting me a look, “Pure Blonde,” a hand was placed on my shoulder, I jumped, “make it two,” his voice was more soothing than I had thought, how did he move so quickly? He took a seat on the stool next to me, “hello I’m Dominic,” he smiled at me. “I’m Matt,” I replied, we sat there in silence for a while, and then our drinks came. We drank quickly and found ourselves ordering more in no time, I was already in a gay bar, what more could I do? “Wanna dance?” he asked after a long silence, “sure,” I mumbled to him. It didn’t take long for him to drag me onto the dance floor, he was really strong, and I liked that. We danced against each other, occasionally bumping; Dom put his hands on my hips pulling me closer to his body, close enough for me to feel his thigh as it pushed against my back. We continued for hours, drinking as we went along. “Wanna go back to my place?” he asked, “sure” I say, I didn’t want to seem eager, but I didn’t want him to think I wasn’t interested.
We hopped into a cab, both of us singing show tunes and talking about how ‘great’ our lives were. It was hot and stuffy and the cab smelt of puke, I couldn’t remember if it was my fault though. The taxi driver had no interest in the two men who were unnervingly making out on the back seat but his occasional glance through the rear view mirror scared me, “make me yours,” Dom whispered into my ear, his breath was warm, it made me relax. We exited the cab with no hesitation; Dom stumbled for the key to his house, kissing me in between. I barely knew this man and I was already back at his house, what was going through my head? Would it be bad to call it of now? How could it, he is the most amazing person ever. We stumble into his house, arm in arm, it was dark and we fell over on the floor, “quickly,” he said dragging me up a stair case. We jumped into his bed and it began.
He kissed me all over, and groaned when I did the same. He wasn’t afraid to be ruff, pulling my hair as I pleased him. I removed my shirt, he did the same “Oh Dom!” I screamed, as he took off his pants, “Dom?” the sound of a woman stoped us, the lights turned on. He sat up and pushed me under the blankets, “Mum, you said you weren’t going to be home!” he seemed annoyed, “I came back early to spend some time with you,” she said to him, “well I’m kinda busy,” he said accidentally pulling the blankets up further, until my feet where exposed, “Who is she?” she whispered thinking I couldn’t hear, “can you leave mum?” he said getting frustrated, “let me who it is,” she demanded, I rested my head on top on Dom’s lap and looked up at him, “Mum please,” he pleaded to her, “darling I know your under there come out,” Dom shook his head at me but I heard her step forward so I sat up, “DOMINIC JAMES HOWARD!” she shouted, “In the kitchen now!” I was a bit confused, “mum just let me be,” he said pinching my thigh, she left without another word, “I’m sorry,” I said as he jumped out of bed, “I think you should go, now’s not a good time,” I stood up and gathered my clothes, “here’s my phone number,” I said writing it on a ripped piece of paper. “You don’t have to call if you don’t want to,” I said as he took the paper from my hand.
Leaving his house was probably the most difficult journey I had ever made; his mother was in the kitchen unloading grocery bags and made no attempt to hide the dirty face she gave me as I left. I was glad it was his mother who had found us and not his father, when I had stepped out of the house I could hear yelling, I felt so bad for putting him in this situation I deserved to be yelled at more than he did. Walked down the road, it was late and I had no other way to get home, luckily he was less than 3 blocks away. It was probably the longest 3 blocks I had ever walked, it was dark and the stars shined like a thousand diamonds which lay untouched in the sky. The shadow casted by a passing cat startled I its cry was loud and it echoed through the street. Then silence again, I wanted so bad to finish what I had started with Dominic but I knew he would probably never want to speak to me again. I didn’t want this to be the last memory I had with him, we had only met tonight but there was something deeper than that, we had really connected, and so see that all thrown away because his mum hadn’t a clue he was gay would be a shame. It was worth the fight and I promised myself that night, in the glow of the full moon, I would win back the love of Dominic. If it killed me, I wanted him back by my side, the four or five hours we had spent together had been the best of my life. He was the kind of person I had struggled high school to meet, all the years of torture had all been to meet a person as kind as him.
