Two

If he couldn’t take the news well, how should he expect the other members to when they hear about their marriage?

Nino was expecting a huge reaction when they hear about the news. He imagined that Jun might go berserk, saying something like how stupid of them to get married under a drunken state of mind with both Sho and Aiba trying to calm the man down. And maybe Sho would say something wise like suggesting a divorce because it’s something that they should do, and Aiba would agree with the man’s idea. For Arashi’s sake.

But when both him and Ohno take turns to explain what had happened to the two of them, the other three members decide to keep silent, a total difference from what he had imagined.

Instead of going outrage, Jun sits silently on the sofa with an obvious frown on his forehead, staring at him with a mixture of expressions shown on his face. So do Sho and Aiba, except both of them are staring at both him and Ohno, looking sympathetic over the things that happened.

Nino feels messed up. Having things not under his control makes him uncomfortable. He waits in case Jun is a little bit late on saying his opinion out loud, because he knows how much Jun cares about Arashi, but nothing leaves the man’s mouth. At a certain point, Nino wishes that, if Jun didn’t, maybe Sho could burst out his anger over the news. Or even Aiba, despite how unlikely it is.

He hates it. The idea of marrying Ohno has never appeared in his mind since three years ago, a point where his friendship with Ohno had turned a little bit sour since that day. They’re still friends, except not as close as they used to be. But that isn’t the point now. He is so confused, wondering what was in the man’s head when they decided to get married. But then, his mind reminds him that both of them were drunk. It was probably a joke that they were playing, just like how they formed Ohmiya SK before.

He looks at Ohno twice. The man’s expression hasn’t changed at all. Not a slightest hint to tell Nino that Ohno is actually troubled by what happened. But perhaps it’s because they haven’t encountered the worst part yet.

He waits nervously, playing with the ring on his finger before the door of the room they were in creaks open, revealing the company’s general manager. Looking at her dissatisfied face, Nino’s stomach churns for the nth time since he got to know the news.

They can see how Julie is trying so hard to keep herself calm. Of course, it isn’t expected. They are supposed to be here in Hawaii for a concert, their anniversary concert. Not to celebrate a marriage that shouldn’t happen. When she heaves a heavy sigh, Nino wonders what makes him stay standing when he can feel his limbs weaken.

“I’m not going to nag at you boys about what happened. To say it’s expected, well you two are close. Even my uncle says so. But as a Johnny’s, you should be well aware that this shouldn’t happen. At least not now for all of you. And I know you-“, she points at Nino, “- would always give a thought before you decide on something. Yet, why did it happen?”

It’s much more thrilling to hear their general manager to speak in such a cool, calm tone. Nino prefers to hear an enrage scream from the lady, at least it will be so much faster and ends in a blink of an eye. But her stares are piercing him, sending him shivers over the idea that the woman is trying so hard to not explode with anger. Will she? Nino doesn’t know.

“It was a mistake,” Nino starts. “We were both drunk,”

“Drunk?” She says, sounding amused. “It is said that when people are drunk, they tend to be honest.”
Nino frowns confusedly.

“What I mean is, were the two of you being honest when you decided to get married?”

“But I don’t want to marry him!” Nino snaps. His voice echoing in his head, wondering what is this ridiculous question this woman just asked? No! He didn’t want to marry Ohno. It’s impossible. It’s wrong for him, especially that his mother keeps telling him that she hopes she’ll have grandchildren someday. He wants it too. But marrying Ohno, how is that possible?

He looks at Ohno desperately. Why doesn’t the man say anything? Their marriage happened while they were not under their conscious mind. Surely Ohno doesn’t want this, right? The man’s words from two years ago echo inside his head, reminding him how much Ohno doesn’t want him. God, for god’s sake, say something, Ohno! His head screams.

But then, the man turns to look at him. Nino wonders why he looks so apologetic, biting his lips as if he’s guilty.

“But I want this,” Ohno says. Nino’s eyes widen in surprise.

“What are you saying? You-“

“I’m not joking, Nino,” Ohno says. His eyes lock on Nino when he speaks before he looks at their manager. “When it happened, Nino was drunk, I wasn’t.”

“What?” Nino shrieks. But Ohno chooses to ignore.

He needs to tell them the truth, especially to Nino. The truth will hurt them both, but Ohno knows he needs to despite the fact that it will hurt him the most.

“I love him, Kitagawa-san. I love him that when we finally got the chance to speak like we used to do three years ago, I couldn’t control myself anymore. It began with a simple topic but I led us to talk about marriage. And when he brought up the idea, under his drunken state, I just wanted it to happen. And it just- I’m sorry-“

Ohno leaves his words to hang there. Their surrounding turns silent.

He knows how much trouble he has caused to them. To Nino, to Arashi, to all of their managers. All due to his greediness. But he loves Nino so much. It is too late for him to realize that, but to him, it isn’t too late to make it right again.

The truth is, he was jealous. When Nino brought up the topic about getting married to someone who the man didn’t even know yet, it triggered the idea that he’s going to lose Nino. It scared him to the point that he started to provoke the man.

“You love me, Nino,” he said. “Marrying someone else means you’re denying that your heart still longs for me,”

“It doesn’t mean anything to you! Why do you care?’

“Because I love you,” he said.

“So, will you marry me?” Nino asked, giggling in between hiccups.

Ohno smirked. Without a word, he leaned in, kissed the man on his lips. His hand was in Nino’s hair, pulling him closer as he deepened their kiss. Nino’s hand gripped the hem of his shirt, silently enjoying the kiss. When the kiss broke, Nino breathlessly said,

“Let’s get married,”

“Won’t you regret it?” Ohno asked.

“I don’t think I will. But you will,”

How would he regret it when bonding with the guy is what he has always wanted?

Hence, he replied. “Let’s,”

A mistake indeed.

He sees how Nino is gritting his teeth, trying to suppress his anger. His eyes murderously glare at him. If only it can kill him, Ohno sure will be dead by now.

Ohno expects an outrage from the man any moment soon.

“Johnny-san is coming here. You still need to explain it to-“

“There’s not a single fucking explanation to be told here!” Nino yells, furious, cutting Julie from saying any more words. “I’m not going to marry him- Fuck, we’re married! I want a divorce ASAP!”

“Nino, please-“

“No!” Nino yells, pushes Ohno hard when the man tries to calm him down. “Remember what you said to me three years ago? You told me I was disgusting. That my love for you was disgusting! You said I was being ridiculous for hoping you would love me in return. You said I was no one compared to that girl you fucked that night, in front of me! And now you’re saying you want this? Fuck you!”

He storms out the room, leaving all of them speechless.

In that moment, Ohno realizes how much he messed up three years ago, hurting Nino who was loving him with his whole heart. And the scar in the man’s heart is still bleeding.

“Riida-“ he hears Sho’s voice calling him softly, sounding sympathetic. He turns, notices that Jun is no longer there. For a second, his eyes meet Julie’s who is shaking her head, before she leaves the room.

Ohno sighs.

“I didn’t know-“ Sho starts.

“Know what?” he asks.

“that you love Nino. In that way,”

Ohno keeps silent. For a moment, none of them speaks a word,

“I didn’t know either,” he says, sighing. “but when he fell sick,  I was so afraid that I’m gonna lose him. We’re not that close since what I said to him two years ago. But watching him bearing all the pain, I just-“

Ohno pauses. He is at loss for words. But one thing he’s sure of,

“I just want him to be happy-“

Both Sho and Aiba look at each other.
A/n: I’m not sure what is Julie Kitagawa’s position in the company. Again, this is a fiction and I made up this whole thing for nothing *grins*
