((some of the quotation has been used by real life people… I get the idea the night of his birthday while reading my twitter timeline. I’m acknowledging those words by the peoples.. sorry for using them without permission))
Sho hates this. He hates making peoples around him worried about him. All of this time, even when he feels tired doing this, not even once he shows it. But today, he just can’t hold it anymore. Not he wants to stop being a part of Arashi, he just need sometimes for himself.
He has been decided this since last month. He wants to celebrate this day with his family. The members know about it. He sure that’s another reason why they decided to celebrate his birthday at the concert, earlier than he has expected.
But today, everything was spoiled. He didn’t know what has went wrong, but here they are stuck up in the middle of the night, working. By the time he sent a message to his mum, he already felt so wrong. He’s the one who makes promise, yet he’s the one breaking it.
Slowly, he takes his attention towards the others. They are tired, he can see it, even they try their very best to hide it with their smile. Somehow he let out a small sigh.
“How long will this takes more?” Jun suddenly ask the staff causing the four to look at him. Startled by the sudden question and of course a sharp glare, the AD didn’t give a direct answer, but asking him to wait for a while before he went to ask the director himself. And this time it was Jun to sighs.
“gomen ne, Sho-kun. You have to do this at the night of your birthday,” He looks at him.
“Huh?”
“Sure you want to spend this night with someone right?” Sho shrugged. He tries to hide whatever he has been thinking just now.
But, he sure the protective member next to him can read him well.
Jun didn’t response a word however. But obviously, his action just now has drawn the attention from the other three members. Slowly, they walk reaching both the two who were sitting at one of the corner. Even Aiba himself knows something wrong with his band mates; he decided to not spill even a word, afraid he’ll worst the situation.
“I guess, that’s a wrap for today,” and for the first time in his life, he didn’t really overjoy for either his or his band mates or the staffs hard works. All he does is just a small bow before hurrying back to the green room. Tiredness, madness combined as one. He grabs all his stuff, before stormed out the room without noticing Aiba who has been calling him and the curious look on his band mate’s face.
He didn’t even remember or realized the path he takes for him to arrive his house. His mind was too pre-occupied with something. But it didn’t last long once he arrives in front of his apartment. He can see lights coming out from the lower part of the door. His eyebrows narrow in curious. He sure he has shut all the lights before he went out this morning, then why the hell…
“tadaima, Onii-chan,”
“ Mai???”
***
“Why are you here actually?” he never take his sight away from his sister from the time he saw her that night. Mai just take a glance at him, before take her focus back to the laptop screen in front of her. She is giggling all the way causing him to feel a little bit annoyed.
“Look Mai, I’m not really in a good mood. So, would you mind telling me why are you here?” he asks once again. Mai pouted.
“mouuu… you’re no longer fun, onii-chan,” she paused, picking at his brother from the laptop. By looking at the man in front of her who makes a serious expression, she sure it’s not a good time to make a jokes.
“kaachan ask me to check on you. She said you must be feeling bad by now because you break the promise,” Sho’s eyes widen in disbelieved.
“kaachan said that?”
“well, she did. Until that you must be feeling bad by now. I add up that break the promise,” she said not taking away her eyes from the screen.
Sho sighs. He didn’t count how many time but he realized he’s been doing that since the past few hours. Mai looks at him once, before continuing whatever she reads.
“ne, Mai,” he begins. “I think…”
Mai stops for a while. She lowered the screen to meet her eyes with his brother. Sho however, didn’t look at her, just staring the empty wall.
“nani??”
“I think I wanna stop doing this,” he blurted out.
Mai sighs. Now she understands why her mother asks her to look over his brother tonight. It’s sure the mother instinct telling the guy in front her now was broken. Not broken. Damage. She has heard his brother whining how tired he is with his works, how he feels is it still worth doing those, but tonight he finally utter something that she never imagine that he will say. After all of this time, he seems passionate with his works.
“It’s up to you. Your life, niichan. We can’t force you to do what you don’t want anymore,” she said, after a long time thinking the right words.
Hearing her words, somehow he feels something. Not hatred, it’s something that he can’t describe. He takes his sight towards his sister who was busy scrolling down the websites.
“I just hope you to listen,”
“I’m listening,”
“No, you’re not!” he snapped back. Mai closed her laptop before paying a full attention towards her brother.
“Now speak,” she said short.
Sho didn’t know how to begin with. He knows he didn’t want this anymore. But, he can’t just simply say that way. While he is thinking the right way to start, Mai gives him a small pat on his shoulder.
“Do you think that people didn’t understand you?” she asks. Sho just nod a little.
“You wrong niichan. Your fans understand you so much. Just you never realized it,” he turned his head towards his sister. Somehow he smirks.
“What makes you’re so sure about it?” and this time, she smirks.
“Because you’re stupid,” she said before went back to the table and continue what she reads just now.
Sho was about to lose his temper hearing the younger one words. slowly, he stand up before heading towards the table just to see his sister surfing the sites.
“Mai. I’m damn serious now and all you do is twitting?” she chuckles.
“That’s the reason why I said you’re stupid, nii-chan. You didn’t even have an account in any social websites because of the policy. That’s the reason why you know nothing. And nii-chan, know nothing means stupid. Hora. Take a look at this. This is what we call as trending,” she explained while pointing at the right side of the page. “It’s a trending that your fan has decided for your birthday,”
Sho didn’t say a word. He is obviously shock. And of course touch. Being a part of Arashi, he never had time for this. They didn’t even have an account in any social websites. To read the trend “#げっだあああああん”, he never thought the fan was creative enough for this. Somehow, his lips form a small curl.
“That is the Japan trending. This one is international. Though it’s not the top trending, but still can’t you see the fans acknowledge you?”
Sho didn’t reply to her words. He keeps reading before he finally utter a question.
“Is this your account?” Mai shook his head.
“Yes, I didn’t use my real name though,”
“May I borrow this for a night?” Mai smirks.
“Sure, as a return, I’ll sleep in your room, and you sleep there,” she said pointing at the couch. Sho laughs.
“ne, niichan,” Mai calls him once, trying to get his attention. “Never think that no one acknowledge you on whatever you did up till this point. Because even if no one do so, we, your family, your fans. We always acknowledge your present,” she said with a warm smile before heading to the bedroom.
Sho is now staring at the screen of the laptop. Been deciding to not get any sleep tonight, he reads all the tweets made by his fan. There are many encouraging words for him aside from the birthday wish. For the past few hours, he keeps smiling. There is one tweet that gives him a deep impression after all.
“Too bad that as peoples around the world is celebrating the person birthday while he’s too busy to celebrate one, ganbare sho-chan! # candlesho #sho_30th #げっだあああああん”
Reading all the fans tweets make him realized something. While he is too busy thinking he’s all alone, faking the smiles whenever the camera starts rolling, being the baka that fails when it comes to sport, a lot of fans acknowledge and happy with his present.
He sure now, he’s not alone doing this. He has his family and fans supporting him.
This is the best birthday present he ever received from the past few years; support by the fans and family and of course…
He feels his phone vibrating. He pulls out the phone before read the message he received.
“ne, Sho-chan. Again.. Otanjoubi Omedetou!! Shall we wear that skirts again tomorrow???” - Aiba
He smiles. And of course. Them.
