After leapfrogging around half the world (or so it feels) I am now back in the United States after a month abroad. The whole Sofia-Frankfurt-Detroit-Pittsburgh flight routine went without any serious problems or annoyances...in fact the airports seemed quite calm...except for Frankfurt, especially when the German police suddenly cordoned off a whole section of the airport, keeping me from checking in for my flight to Detroit...at least while I was sitting there in the airport some jackass leapt over the police barrier and made a sprint for it, getting tackled by a few police officers and taken away in custody for his efforts. The most annoying part of the trip also occured in Frankfurt, where I had to go through a security checkpoint, and got the standard-fare airport security screening...rounded the corner after that...and had to do the same thing, all over again. I was not too happy about that.
Right now I am decompressing in Pittsburgh. I fly back to Sacramento tomorrow. I have been back in the U.S. for less than a day and already I have an e-mail from my advisor, who wants to schedule a meeting to discuss my "denouement" at SSU (his words, not mine) and making the most of my trip, etc.I have to admit I do not want to think about this right now. Probably mostly because I am jetlagged, but another part of me just feels done with being a student. I have been doing a lot of thinking about my life and where I want to go from here these past ten weeks. I will post more later, but I don't feel like writing more right now, I just want to rest and relax.
