I Skate

Jan 20, 2007 23:24

I went ice skating today. It was fun. I’m still not used to my new skates. I swear when I got rid of my old ones, my confidence went right along with them. I notice I am so much more nervous on them. Before I had no problem with getting up on one foot but now I feel I will go flying over that toe pick. I did manage to work up the nerve again to do a two-footed spin. At first I was afraid to build up speed and start the spin so I was only getting a few revolutions. Then I finally did it. They had a break too so they could clean the ice, and once they did it was amazing. I was flying on that smooth ice. I wasn’t bumping along anymore and spinning was way easier. They also played “It’s Not Over” By Chris Daughtry which got me pumped lol. They also played “Keep Holding On” by Avril Lavigne which is the song I just made a vid for and it got me moving too. I think I was inspired by all the images of Sam and Dean I got from the song or something lol. Anyway I fell twice because I got a tad dizzy after spinning but it was no big deal. The only annoying thing was the hockey players who have no regard for anyone and look like they get a charge out of bumping into people. Then of course there are the snow throwers too who aggravate me. I had a good time though and I think Ice Skating helps me clear my head. I can't wait to go again.

I also rewatched Playthings and just wanted to share some thoughts.

Well I liked the episode. It wasn’t one of my favorites but I liked it. The shot of the dead guy at the beginning was creepy. I thought the dolls surrounding him meant that they had something to do with his death. However, he just dropped them and the episode was really about the spirit. The dolls didn’t have much to do with it unless you count that the dolls were used to foreshadow what was going to happen.

Sam was looking extra hot this episode. When he said, “We gotta save as many people as we can”, he looked so gorgeous. Then he had on that denim shirt too…Okay I’m getting distracted. Back to the topic here lol.

Sam was so observant this episode. First he notices the vase outside and then he notices the one in the hall. He's definitely good at what he does. I liked when Sam told Dean, “You are kind of butch. They probably think you’re over compensating." Then Dean teased Sam by saying he has a doll collection. That was priceless. I loved it!

The little doll hanging and the guy hanging was pretty creepy too. It reminded me of this book I read when I was younger where the dolls in the dollhouse would reenact a murder that occurred in the house every night. I was hoping after I saw the preview that Sam might almost drown in the pool. I thought maybe Dean would find a little Sam doll floating in the dollhouse pool. I'm not sure if the dollhouse even had a pool but it was supposed to be an exact replica.

I liked the drunk!Sammy scene. I think Sam was probably already drunk when he peered out the window at the bodybag being removed. He probably heard the guy died so he went and got plastered. That probably doesn't make sense though because Dean looked pretty confused when the bodybag was being removed. Oh well. I was laughing though when Sam was slouched in the chair and he said to Dean, “You’re bossy and short.” I liked how Dean put Sam to bed and said, "Time for bed. Come on Sasquatch" too. Hee!

I thought the promise scene was heartbreaking for BOTH of them. I just don’t get why people have to be so one sided and call Sam selfish. Who else is he supposed to ask? It's no different than telling your relative that if something should happen and you can no longer make decisions for yourself, that you don't want to be kept on life support. Sam is just letting Dean know that if he is no longer in control and the demon is using him as some kind of puppet that he rather die than hurt anyone. Sure it's an enormous thing to ask and I feel terribly sad for Dean. However, why must Sam's feelings in all of this be overlooked? I am getting kind of frustrated with the Sam is exactly like John argument too now because of it. What Sam made Dean promise is different. John told Dean to kill Sam with hardly any information. Sam and Dean have gained knowledge since then. Sam does have reason to believe that the demon does just take control of these people and make them hurt others. Sure Sam could just kill himself now so he doesn't have to ask Dean. However, wouldn't that be selfish? Wouldn't that be just giving up? I think Sam believes you have a choice in your destiny, but I think he feels like maybe the demon removes choice from the equation. Sam is also freeing Dean from any guilt he might feel and letting him know that if the situation ever arises, he would not blame Dean if he had to pull the trigger.

When Sam said, "The more people I save. The more I can change." It was just so sad. Sam was so vulnerable. He wants to prove himself so much. He knows too that with every person they save, it is another time that evil has lost. He's trying to triumph over evil. He said, “Even now, everyone around me dies. Dean you’re the only one who can do it. You have to promise me.” He also said, "You have to watch out for me. And if I ever turn into something that I’m not, you have to kill me." You can tell his biggest fear is that he will hurt the person that he loves most and that's Dean. So how is that selfish? I think that it was noble of Sam to ask Dean to promise him. I thought it was selfless. He is putting the welfare of other people over his own.

I liked Hungover!Sam too. Dean trying to make him sick was funny. I loved when Sam said, “Dude you’re not gonna poke her with a stick.” The delivery was just spot on and so were Sam and Dean’s facial expressions. I was a big fan of Action!Sammy jumping into that pool too. I noticed some people commented in their LJs that they just sat around without doing CPR. It looked like they might have been seeing if she’d take a breath though first. I really liked the scene though anyway because it looked so important to Sam that she survive.

I noticed a lot of people recognized a parallel between Rose and Maggie and Sam and Dean. I definitely see it too now. Rose, the younger sister, allowed big sister Maggie to kill her to save the life of innocent people. Just as Sam, the younger brother, would allow older brother Dean to kill him to save people. It could be some foreshadowing for the season finale.
