Spring?

A lot of people have been mentioning how today is the first day of spring. Well I'm in Cleveland, and around here we don't believe in myths like spring. Spring hasn't sprung here in centuries. Every decade or so you get a good year where spring sorta limps in with a hangover around the end of May, and even then you can expect it to nip out for a cold one now and then. We don't even have birds here. Instead we have senior citizens who train squirrels to sit up in the trees and chirp for nuts. We don't have sunrise and sunset times in the papers because it's overcast 24/7/365. Cleveland used to be a city. About fifty years ago it became a type of weather (imagine experiencing squalls aboard an fishing ship near the arctic circle, except on land). Now it refers to a state of mild to moderate despair, especially as applied to sports fans. In another fifty years it will be a curse word.

Happy First Day of Spring
