I was going through some of my old emails that I hadn't read. It used to be that people would send me a lot of Forwards, and I just didn't have time to read them in those days. I'm glad you are there to listen to your mom's stories. It must be wonderful for her to have you to talk to.

Like you, I remember being a kid and knowing all my neighbors. Half the time people would leave their doors unlocked, which is just unheard-of these days. Times sure have changed. We used to play kick the can in the middle of the street too. And no summer was complete without ice cream from the ice cream truck.

Our games were kickball and keep-a-way. The latter usually when people were being mean to shortie me! And the ice cream truck! Yes! The ones that come today don't hold a candle to those from days of yore. The soft serve ice cream was actually dispensed! It's irritating, but the one that comes around here plays a childhood tune I remember knowing as a kid, but now can't think of the words or title! Been bugging me for more than a few years now.
