There will be, if I have anything to say about it--at least two more stories, maybe three, including a very definite ending.

I keep imagining some Asian princess with the fox, like an Okami feel. It seems set up for something epic, will you be writing the continuation for the next theme? :3

If I come up with some way to fit it in; it might wind up having to be a later theme, but it will happen.

I really love this story, especially the way we find out that the Princess is really brave and resourceful, and a good storyteller, when she hasn't lost her way. Also this is a good fairyale!

Thanks! I read a lot of fairy tales during the writing of it, trying to catch the proper cadences and tropes to make it sound right.

This is really lovely. The princess's exhaustion feels very real, especially the detail of not wanting to admit she cannot pay back the stories. The way you've interlaced her state of mind with the chill of winter and the dawning spring is also very deft.

I went back to see if I had missed something, in the talk of the fox's earlier story being different, but I think you have not posted whatever they're talking about. (Does it exist, and these are excerpts? Or do they stand by themselves as bright points that hint at the rest of the storyline in the mist?) Either way, I like the sense that perhaps he truly thinks that way, a bit, but is also largely trying to provoke her. I like that it works, that she will claim what she did do and choose even if she couldn't have survived alone, because really, how many people can?

I like her story. It's chilling and fascinating and she is clever and I really look forward to seeing the next piece you show us.

There should be (will be, eventually) a story between this and first one, where the fox tells the story of his sister, and just why he was in a position to help the princess. I started it for an earlier issue of Imaginary Beasts, but couldn't get it done in time. It's on my to-do list....

And yes, the fox is definitely trying to provoke her. He's been in more or less the same frame of mind she is at that point, although he didn't have anyone to help him out of it. (I really need to finish his story!)

At the moment, it looks like there will be three more stories/chapters in this series: the fox's story, an unrelated story that he tells the princess (one of the 146 she still owes him for), and the closing story where she finds her champion and wins her name and life back. Which means three more excuses to read all the fairy tales I can get my hands on....

There will be! Although it'll be for the last issue of this year, so you'll have to wait a bit, I'm afraid...
