[Blot!]

Cloud! You're okay! Geeze, I swear your goal in life is to give everybody heart attacks. Where were you?

[He grins a little at that.] The elevator dumped me in a forest with another person, and then disappeared for a day. I'm guessing we were on the fourth floor.

Ahh, I get it... that doesn't sound too bad at all. [He thinks back to his own visit to the fourth floor. Maybe Cloud's hometown was a forest.

...Sniper would not be surprised.]

I'm trying to decide whether it was good timing or bad timing. Probably good timing.

It would have been better if I could have left some kind of note.

[It had felt pretty darn familiar, but that could have just been because he recognized pretty much all of the plants he saw.]

Probably. [Pause.] You make it through... whatever happened alright?

It would have been way better. I was looking all over the place for you, and I would have figured that you were locked up at the fourth floor earlier if you weren't so good at disappearing when you're not trapped somewhere.

Yeah, I got off better than most people, I think. I've got nothing that won't heal, anyway. And that "whatever" that happened were the craziest zombies I've ever seen in my life.

Is that a compliment?

That's good. Zombies?

It depends on whether or not you like being able to disappear or not!

Yeah, zombies. You know, The Living Dead. They usually walk around making "ughhhhh braiiiinnnsssss" sounds. Or at least they're supposed to.

You never know, it could come in handy someday.

[Living dead... vague ping? Maybe? Maybe not.] Sounds pretty troublesome. Do they eat brains? [Or is there another reason they wander around asking for them?]

Yeah, probably. It'd sure be handy in situations like these if the Tree didn't disappear you on its own. [Yes, disappear you. Nobody said Sniper had the best grasp on grammar.]

They usually do, yeah. These ones seemed pretty happy just gnawing on any body part, though. They were really... [taptap.] unusual. Even for zombies.

At least you'll always know the difference... if I choose to disappear for a while, I'll always leave a note. [Promising nothing he can't deliver.]

...huh. Since this is the first I've heard of that kind of [pause; are they animals, or people with a disease? No way he can know without observing them first-hand] thing, I wouldn't know.

Okay. Now that you've said it, I'll be counting on it, okay?

Oh, no? I always thought they were scary even before I saw these ones... and compared to the ones I think I know, these are even more terrifying. They had huge claws, and some of them grew spikes out of their backs, and some of them crawled everywhere even if you--

[...Ew, ew, ew. Grossing self out.]

--and they were really nasty. It really is a good thing you weren't around. And I know it all sounds kinda unreal, but I'm not actually lying. Promise.

Right. [He just said he would, didn't he?]

[That really sounds disgusting. HE DOES NOT ENVY YOU.] ...yeah. Now I'm sure I've never heard of these things before. [Pause.] Sorry I worried you.
