My first Prompts

My very first post. A series of Dabbles based on prompts I found in various places. (I forget exactly where, I think most of them came from Snark and Handcuffs.)

Trust
“How do I know you’ll keep your end of the bargain?”
“Ah, what’s the matter? Don’tcha trust me?” Barry Allen just gave Trickster an annoyed look before turning and walking away, never noticing the ‘Kick Me’ sign now duck taped to his back. Trickster barely managed to keep his sniggers quiet long enough for the Flash to speed off.

Loyalty
    “You came back for me.”
“Naturally, Music Man. Us outlaw-types gotta stick together.”

Sacrifice
“Rouges, we’re gathered today to say goodbye to one of our own. He was an annoying little cretin, but without him we wouldn’t be standing today. May his sacrifice never be in vein.”

Mentor
Axel glared at James, not liking the way the original Trickster was grinning at him. “Well, if you’re so determined to keep my name, I guess I better teach you to use it properly.”
The police stopped responding to the calls about screaming in Apartment 13 with-in a week, knowing it would just be the kid trying to make another break for it. Let his mentor untangle him from the traps this time.

Apprentice
James was positively giddy as he set up the VCR with his next video. He could hear his Little Loki screaming his throat sore in the wires again. He looked up and tutted lightly at hearing his mini’s language, grabbing the bar of lavender soap from the nearby table and putting it in some water while he fetched Axel again. Who knew having an apprentice could be so much fun?

Noobie
Piper looked up from his newest sonic weapon and tilted his head, focusing on the sounds that had distracted him. Pounding footsteps, a heavy run most likely; panting breath, supporting his theory; and a lighter ‘plumf’ sound he’d come to associate with Trickster’s Airwalker Shoes™. He put a golf ball size disc down on his table just as his window opened from the outside, unusual on the thirteenth floor if one didn’t have a best friend like James, and a blonde- and pink-covered head poked in. “Hey, Hart, you’ve gotta see this. We caught a noob!” Piper lifted an eyebrow and stood up, walking over to the window and looking out at the complex wire trap Trickster had set up when they’d first bought this building. Just like James said, a tall figure wearing a black sweater and matching pants, female by the voice that was yelling slurs at them, was trapped in the wires, getting more and more tangled the more she struggled.
Piper propped his elbow against the window ledge and rested his head on his hand, smiling lightheartedly. “She’s kind of small, Tricks. Maybe you should throw him back.” Trickster saluted impishly and reached up, untying the line above the window and watching the would-be cat burglar fall towards the ground, stopping just before she hit and dangling there while Piper called Wally to come get her.

Hazing
Trickster chuckled lightly as the newest potential member of the Rouges walked in wearing, of all things, a frilly pink leotard. “Oh, isn’t he a hot one?” Heat Wave laughed, leaning against Captain Cold to keep from falling over.
“A ray on sunshine, I’d say.” Weather Wizard chimed in, already in the floor.
“I’ll certainly reflect on this moment if I ever need cheering up.” Mirror Master chortled from the chair. The newest Rouge glared at the lot of them before his attention was drawn to the quietest criminal in the room, who had just stood up.
“Look on the bright sight, Boomer. The worst of its over and you’ll never have to hear that painful tune again.”

Fight
“You want to know what I think? Fine! I think you need to get a life. Turn off that blasted music and get rid of these vermin you call pets! You’ve lost your mind if you think I’ll be staying here even a second--” Piper looked up when his roommate’s tirade was suddenly cut short. He blinked, then smiled, then finally started laughing. Charley glared from his place, hanging upside-down with a gag in his mouth and blue, yellow, and green paint dripping ‘up’ his body. James stood beside the hung-man, glaring right back at him for a few seconds before turning to Piper.
“You know, if you need a new roommate, I like you music and I just love your rats.”

Coffee
James yawned, resting his head on the table in front of him. Piper just chuckled and walked across the room, pouring a cup of coffee and pushing it in front of James’s face. It took a few seconds, but James eventually lifted his head enough to take a sip of the coffee before his eyes widened slightly and he looked up at Piper. “Hazelnut? You remembered.” Piper just smiled as he started breakfast. Poptarts ala Microwave, just like every other time he got up before James had his coffee.

Got Your Back
Piper yelped as his feet slid out from under him, looking up at the girl who had caused it. Her power hadn’t sounded that impressive at first ‘Oh, I’m filling in for the Flash while he’s off planate. I manipulate friction.’ is rarely something one would consider a threatening pair of sentences. He lifted his flute to his lips, only to have it slip from his hands. Rats were skittering everywhere, but not even his most loyal and intelligent friends could get close to the girl sitting on the wall above them. Piper closed his eyes when he heard the police arrive, knowing he couldn’t run away, when he suddenly felt a strong pair of arms encircle him and lift him into the air. “Don’t worry, Music Man. I’ve got your back.” Trickster said as he sent a yo-yo right into the mysterious girl’s head, knocking her out cold and allowing Piper’s rats to escape with his flute as he carried Piper himself to safety.

Defense/Defensive
“Stop right there. Don’t take another step.” Trickster yelled, standing protectively over Piper’s fallen form. The tranquilizer would probably take hours to were off, and Trickster knew he was now Piper’s only defense. So, armed with three yo-yos in one hand and a rubber chicken in the other, he stood his ground against the approaching heroes.
