Title: Ryu Ryo (New Version) [Part 1]
Author:
iarmella
Pairing: YabuNoo, InooTome
Rating: PG-13
Warning/s: Inoo is a girl. 4100+ words ;) I'm planning to make this real quick!
Summary: Ryutaro always knew from the very start that he did not deserve poor lifestyle and definitely not a useless father like Hikaru to have him. Ryosuke on the other hand felt more than blessed for having Kei and Kota as his parents. But with the revelation of hidden hatred, undying obsession and extreme will for vengeance....one by one, everything falls out of Ryosuke's hands with Ryutaro catching everything. And in one blow, the secrets behind their real identities turns their world upside down.
Author's Note: I revised my original version of this fic to this one because I really wanted to continue it but was too annoyed to do so. Solely written for the sake of having fun with my friends since this is based on a little drama on our TVs almost two years back :)

Money. It was that certain damn thing in the world that Yaotome Hikaru didn’t have when he was born to this world. Just some damn money. And he hated that people who were born with it, just didn’t play it fair. They always get the nicer clothes, the nicer schools, the nicer neighborhood, and the nicest of everything. While, he, he had to live up working with the rich bastards just so he can survive his life.
He’s never met one nice rich person. They were all a strut, judgmental and empty headed hypocrites, who’d obviously know nothing if you strip their assets down and let them off the street at night. At Hikaru knew by hook or by crook, he’d survive, he was still a bit better.

Then the world changed the moment he met Inoo Kei.

They were in the same school and same class. She was a beauty goddess, attractive and nice and fragrant. She didn’t pick who she’d talk to, she’d be fair and square, and everything was about her.

“It’s just weird you’re this nice” Hikaru wasn’t able to stop himself from commenting. They were almost always partners in all their projects, and researches. And he wouldn’t deny that he was falling so hard for Inoo Kei.

Hikaru’s never felt this much attraction to a lady, and even before he could help it, he knew he was addicted to Inoo Kei already. She’s everybody’s demands, and Hikaru was one of them.

That was where the real competition began.

Inoo Kei was the only daughter of the family. Hikaru didn’t really have to research just how rich she was, it was enough to see the cars picking her up to and fro school.

“I don’t really give a damn about the money, besides, I’m the girl of the family, I’m sure I’m just a weapon to extend the family business. But when I get married, I’ll make sure the family I’d be building can stand up on our own.”

That was exactly why Hikaru doubled his hard work to get himself a living, he has to be rich. He can’t just be defeated.

He took the entrance exam at Meijii, knowing that Kei would be taking up Architecture there. And when he passed the exams, eligible for full scholarship, that was when he found out that Kei would be leaving for America to continue studying.

Damned money.

Five years later, Yaotome Hikaru, at twenty-two, stood in front of the Inoo’s residence. He had a bouquet of red carnations with him, knowing just how much Kei loved carnations, and nervously he stepped in to the house. It was Kei’s homecoming party. He felt so small as he stepped in, he was surrounded by obviously great people. People that dominated the economy of Japan and the world, he just wished he wouldn’t see Kei’s parents because no matter how accommodating they were at him, Hikaru felt that Kei’s parents made sure that they would only be great friends.

Warm hands covered his eyes from behind as he was looking for Kei. Hikaru knew that move, and he smiled feeling those familiar slender fingers. Thank god Kei hasn’t changed a bit towards her, always playful. He took the chance on holding her hand, trying to feel more of her. She’s finally gained weight considering she didn’t feel all bones anymore,

“Guess” Kei whispered to him with a giggle. Hikaru missed that sound, she sounded like she’s happy and she’s enjoying

“Oh Kei, please” Hikaru smirked then he took a deep breath as Kei let him go, and twirled in front of him. There’s my princess. He thought as he eyed Kei,

“Hey Hikaru! I missed you!” she grinned, and moved closer to him, giving him a kiss on the cheek. He twitched inwardly with what she did, and he did his best to calm down.

“Great to see you too!” he said, almost feeling sad that they almost didn’t talk to each other for five year, yet happy at the same time knowing that Kei hasn’t forgotten about him. Looking at her made him feel so fuzzy, she still looked so young and lovely, and Hikaru wished that Kei didn’t stop thinking about him either, just as he did. “You look great, this is for you” he handed the bouquet he brought for her, and grinned as she took it gladly

“Oh thank you Hikaru! You’re just so sweet” she said, eyeing the flowers.

Hikaru could just stand there the whole day without a word, provided this is what he’d be staring at. He swore that. She was staring lovingly at the flowers, and Hikaru felt that moment that Kei is probably in love with him. “Oh! I want you to introduce to someone very important” she sudden said when she looked up, and Hikaru felt a presence behind him.

The man was around Hikaru’s height, maybe a few centimeters taller, and he had a sternly attractive face. Seeing him made Hikaru feel something stir inside, that the man was a threat,

“Ko-chan, this is Yaotome Hikaru, an old dear friend and-“ Friend. Old friend. “Hikaru, this is Yabu Kota, my husband” Husband. Husband.
Hikaru took a deep shuddering breath, glad that a child accidentally bumped behind him as he took this time to glare down at the ground, and take another deep breath. When he looked up, he saw Yabu Kota smiling at him, even extending a hand at him. He almost took the hand and gave the other a blow on the face, but what stopped him was when Kei got on the tips of her toes and kissed Kota’s jaw briefly before she turned to Hikaru with a grin,

“Wh-“ he was almost speechless as he shook Kota’s hand firmly. The man had confidence, his grip was firm and formal, but he had a friendly smile,

“Wh-what? When?” Hikaru asked, blinking at them in disbelief again. “You’re…you’re married?” he breathed out, and he didn’t care anymore if the hurt he got became very evident on his face. He doesn’t give a damn if he looks like shit now, the woman he worshipped all his life was there, standing in front of him…saying she’s married. Married. Then he eyed the two rings on her hand, which she gladly spread out for him. She had two rings…and-

“It’s our fourth month” she giggled. Four months ago. “And I’m two weeks pregnant” she mouthed at him.

Yaotome Hikaru just waited for them to finish talking. And he walked out of the party. He didn’t want to wait there.

What happened? He thought Kei was attracted to him, they had a mutual attraction towards each other…what the hell happened? What did Yabu Kota do?

He stole from Hikaru. He stole Kei from Hikaru. A rich man using money as a way.

There was a woman in front of his house when he got home. It was the woman he tried to date a few months back, trying to see if there was anyone like Kei, he needed to relieve himself once in a while. She was a bit younger than him, a rising model, starting her career. She’s attractive too, but nothing like Kei…

“Hikaru-kun, I’m pregnant” she confessed. Pleading him so hard to tell her what to do. She was hysterical that her career is ruined, and that all her dreams were crushed now…

But for Hikaru, he just eyed her. He doesn’t even remember her name, the only important thing that he thankful of was she’s beautiful and she’s carrying his child…if her dreams ended just because of the child, it was the opposite for Hikaru. It was the start of all his new dreams.
Kei sat anxiously on the passenger seat as Kota drove home, her arms tightening around the gift she has in her laps. She looked outside and sighed, knowing that they were at the maximum speed that they could take, yet the drive home felt like an eternity. The reassuring squeeze on her hand made her feel relax a little, “Don’t worry, I’m sure he’ll still be waiting for us” Kota reassured her and gave her a brief kiss before turning back on sweeping the road.

“Ryosuke” she called out the moment they arrived home.

She’d always wanted to have a smaller house, but this was her own design so there was almost nothing that she can do about it. She went to the kitchen and almost sagged as she realized that her seven-year old was still there, sleeping on the dining table. She swallowed with guilt as she saw the cake and the half melted candles on top.

Kota stepped behind her, and she heard him sigh too. They were unbelievable. As much as Kei wanted to spend time with her child, it was critical period for the two of them…they were both on the way up of the ladder, and there was no backing down…and she wondered if she was going to be okay with this. Ryosuke’s childhood cannot be retrieved anymore so they also needed to balance out on this one,

“Hey baby” she whispered, knowing well enough that it was way past his bedtime. “Happy birthday” she kissed the boy awake. Hoping it would work.

They’ve been neglecting him, and she was starting to get nervous for that.

Round charming eyes blinked at her, and she grinned as Ryosuke smiled at them, “Oh mom! Dad! You guys got home late! The cake is running away” he complained, his innocence very evident.

From that day on, Kei swore, she’d never ever sacrifice her time with her child for work. Ryosuke’s personality was too great to be wasted.
-

Hikaru hardly maintained a straight line as he wobbled back to the small apartment he was renting with that small bastard. He kicked the door open, startling the child waiting inside. “Get the fuck out of my sight” he grumbled, removing his shoes

“Where’s dinner?” the seven year old asked

“Oh, very useless Ryutaro, Do I have to go over the fridge and cook for you myself?” Hikaru spat back “You know well enough how hard it is to work outside, and yet you exp-“

“But there’s no food inside, I would’ve cooked it myself if there was! As if I could expect something from you!” Ryutaro answered making Hikaru’s blood boil.

The boy dared answer back at him. Without further ado, he slapped the boy with his drunken rage, sending the small body almost at the other end of the room. “You better shut the fuck up unless you’re no longer eating what I always work hard for, you worthless child” he yelled as the boy’s eyes watered.

He dares answer back. Just a child and already answering. His face irritated Hikaru to the pits of hell, and it just wasn’t enough to make him cry, sometimes Hikaru was at the verge of really beating the child up into a pulp.

Ryutaro, grumbled as he heard the school bell ringing, all his classmates sprung up from their seats, excited to have lunch already. For him it was the worst time of the day, these stupid rich bastards were going to school, excited for break times and not interested with their topics to learn.

He pulled his wallet out, and grimaced as he looked at his money. Hikaru hasn’t given him his monthly allowance and it’d been two weeks already, good thing he knew how to save money and he was tutoring some of those stupid elementary kids who couldn’t solve simple math on their own so he was surviving just enough. But the money he earned all focused on the new projects he had to pass.

He got in to that school thru full scholarship, Hikaru told him once that he managed to finish studying with that, and Ryutaro was glad enough that despite the attitude, he’s got his father’s brains. Or else, he would never learn, because Hikaru never gave a damn about his school when he started middle school.

He looked at his supposed to be ‘friends’ and almost pukes at the idea that the four of them were called ‘the small gang’ of the school. He sighed as Arioka Daiki, started talking about his shopping weekend in China with the other two, Nakajima Yuto and Okamoto Keito. Yuto and Keito were bearable creatures, what Ryutaro liked about them was they were under him and they were very direct about admitting to that, especially with the clearness that Ryutaro was the smartest guy of the whole school. Yuto was always about music with Keito, and Keito was a boring guy who always spent time with his mother in England. They were the normally rich kids. But Daiki was an annoying one, he just can’t keep his mouth shut, and what’s worse was, he was the smallest amongst them and yet he always tried to make sure that he had something better with Ryutaro. He always tried to make a healthy competition, but it just doesn’t work especially, when it was very obvious that no matter how rich Daiki was, there was that one and only thing that he cannot buy anywhere, Ryutaro’s intelligence.

Ryutaro would admit that the small guy was talented, he was good dancer…and he was pretty attractive too, but he just wished the obvious hands down competition wouldn’t be handed down at him anymore. It’s already getting boring beating Arioka Daiki up without any effort.
He stood up from his desk, and approached them, and readied himself to step out of the classroom. Hoping that nobody would be getting on his way to the cafeteria, because it was just best to eat lunch when the school provides it.

The following day though, Ryutaro found himself cursing as he walked in the school grounds. This is why he didn’t want to be in the student council, their president resigned on the job and the faculty members were pushing the job to Ryutaro expecting him to handle this one as smoothly as he does to the other activities he has. He was going over the papers, trying to look for a proper vice president to take the spot he’s going to leave for presidency, when he bumped to someone…and papers flew everywhere.

He glared down at the boy who was thrown to the floor, and frowned, wondering how could someone be that stupid. All his papers were scattered now, and Ryutaro was glad enough that nothing in what he’s holding joined the stupid’s ones.

The boy was unfamiliar, but it didn’t take Ryutaro to figure out what a stranger was doing there, when the moment the boy started picking up his papers, Ryutaro purposely stepped on the paper he needs most. That one paper that he cannot ask for another copy, his information paper, it was obvious that he’s a transferee.

-
Ryosuke sat at the back seat with his mother, his eyes casted outside as he tried to suppress his annoyance.

“Baby, please don’t pull that face on me” Kei said touching her son’s face. Ryosuke was now fifteen, and is in his second year of middle school. She knew that her son was upset about her sudden decision of transferring him to another school, but she couldn’t really help it not when she heard that the number of students joining gangster and the rate of bullying in his previous school inflated after a new president took over. Besides, it was Ryosuke himself who told her about not being comfortable

“It was just so sudden” he sighed

“I know, but you know I love you so much I can’t let any harm be done to you”

“Whatever” Ryosuke grumbled, looking outside again.

It wasn’t like he was totally against the idea of this one. But he just feels exasperated for the over protectiveness his parents gave to him. Nevertheless, when they arrived to his new school to finalize his transfer, Ryosuke found himself lost in the campus after a few turns to the faculty room.

He was walking around what seemed like a gym area, when suddenly someone bumped with him and his papers flew everywhere. “I’m so sorry” panicking he started to pick his papers, hoping that he won’t get anything dirty. He doesn’t want a wrong impression for him,
“Oh excuse me please” he mumbled as he realized that his application form was under the boy’s shoe. But when the boy didn’t move, he slowly looked up, and he was smirked at.
-

Ryutaro was having fun watching the boy scramble, he was all thumbs, and when he realized that Ryutaro was stepping on something, he felt a pang of jealousy when he saw the boy’s eyes. He was handsome, more like cute…and he looked filthy rich; he looked pampered and spoiled too. Ryutaro felt like he’s seen the boy somewhere…oh, in the TV. He was advertising something…Ryutaro tilted his head and started to think,

“Ryosuke” it felt like a thunder hit Ryutaro when he heard that soft sweet voice. He took a deep breath as he looked up and was met with a set of beautiful eyes, and his heart started to pound so hard against his chest. He hated the feeling, the woman was so beautiful and attractive and Ryutaro wasn’t sure if it was the fact that he grew up without a mother that he was feeling like that, or was it nervousness that he felt that he got caught bullying this small kid that was obviously her son.

Pretending that he didn’t do anything, he got on his knees and picked the small paper up, helping the boy he was so annoyed at earlier in standing, but his eyes instantly glued on the woman with him. She was so pretty.

“Thank you, you’re so kind” the boy, whose name probably is Ryosuke grinned at him like a fool.

“Oh honey, I’ve been looking for you.” The woman approached them, and Ryutaro almost wanted to step back, overwhelmed by her. He wasn’t quite sure if it was the aura that the two emitted together, or was it because he’s really flushed. Ever since he was little, he always had a problem when it came to mothers, because he always felt jealous of his friends who had one…but this time it was different, it was jealousy close to violence, he envied the boy so much. No wonder he looked like that, he was beautiful just like his mother. And she was so sweet to him, “Hi.” She smiled a Ryutaro, “I see you’ve met a new friend already?” she asked her son

“Yeah.” Ryosuke nodded

“Are you transferring here?” Ryutaro just wanted to continue the conversation, even if it meant asking the very obvious
“Yes. I’m Ryosuke by the way, and this is my mom. Yabu Kei,” the boy grinned.

“Nice to meet you. I’m Ryutaro.” He bowed a little, “And it’s a great choice of school, what class are you in? I’m betting you’re in my grade”
“Second year, class A” Ryosuke answered.

Oh. Either a smart ass or a real filthy rich kid, Ryutaro’s living in a class of competitors because they were sons of great families, but this kid…ha. He doubts it.

He eyed the lady again. Kei. Yabu Kei.

-
Monday came fast, and Ryutaro’s almost forgotten about his encounter with Ryosuke and his mom last Saturday because he was so annoyed that he had to walk to school again when he didn’t get enough sleep the other night because of studying.

He was walking aimlessly, and he knew that there was still thirty more minutes to walk. But the next thing he knew a black car was already parked beside the street, and Ryosuke was already waving at him. “Ryutaro-kun! Good morning!” the boy offered him a ride, and Ryutaro was so glad for it. His friends always offer him a ride, but only when they were coming from that direction, and Ryutaro knew that he would have to endure a long Daiki-talk about his night over at their second house and blah blah blah if ever that happens.

Also he got in, hoping that he’d see Ryosuke’s mom again, but then she wasn’t there.

“Have you eaten breakfast?” Ryosuke asked casually, and Ryutaro noted that he had a small container filled with two big club sandwiches. “Have some of these” he offered, and after a small thanks, Ryutaro almost jumped with delight. It was good.

“It’s good right?” Ryosuke asked as he nibbled on his own food, but as he chewed on, he was starting to look so passive. “Though I’m starting to get sick of it. Because you know what, of all the sandwiches, this is the only one that my mother knows how to make, so she does it every single day in an attempt to- you know…” Ryutaro felt annoyed at this though.

“You shouldn’t say it like that. At least your mom makes time for you, unlike most of our classmates, they always complain about their parents not having time for them. Besides, there are lots of people who starve, so we’re pretty lucky we can eat” he explained. Either he was annoyed that Ryosuke was being such a brat, or the fact that the boy was wasting his mother’s efforts.

“Oh…I’m sorry” Ryosuke apologized immediately. And Ryutaro got it confirmed, the boy was the inferior type, he was probably babied too much by his parents.

-
Ryutaro stared outside out of boredom; he knew the first hour of their class would be wasted because there’s a transferee. He took his small planner out and started fixing his schedule instead for the student council, and when the teacher came in, hushing them down, he just sighed. Ryosuke was actually a simple one, but it was probably Ryutaro’s natural irritation to rich kids that stopped him from liking the boy a little bit,
The whole room was chaotic when Ryosuke came in, but Ryutaro didn’t give a damn about it. Everybody obviously knew that he was a child of the family that owned the majority of the airline industry in the country, and it improved a lot when his father was the one who took over it. While his mother was one of the five highest paid architects in the country, Ryutaro have read things about them. But very minimal information about their family was given, other than the fact that he’s the next big thing in the airline industry operations considering that he’s the heir and only child, there was nothing that noted about their way of lifestyle. Luxury, obviously.

What snapped Ryutaro out of his scheduling was when Ryosuke sat next to him, and smiled. The teacher said that they’ve seen them entering together, and she already assumed that they were friends so Ryosuke was now his liability. Geez, and they expect him to take over the council too. What the hell.

The whole hour flew quickly, luckily…and when it was time to change teachers, Ryutaro looked at Ryosuke, and opened the books for him, telling him the parts he should read so he could catch up. He purposely made it quick, because teaching others without pay, was the last thing he wanted to do. Moreover, he just wanted to bully the boy into that…

“I see” Ryosuke nodded, like an idiot.

“Yabu-san, what was your score in the entrance exam?” now that was a good question. Ryutaro glanced at Ryosuke for a second, and he just looked away as he saw the boy blushing. Oh, so it’s the money exam, not the brain exam.

“A hundred” the boy whispered. And Ryutaro almost whisked his head back, as the whole room fell in silence

“Really?” the girl asked

“Yes” Ryosuke nodded with embarrassment, suddenly aware that all eyes were on him already.

Ryutaro kept his cool and pretended to pout as he looked in front, trying to block down the hushed whispers of how another ace came into their class, finally someone who managed to level up with him. But what annoyed him more, was when they pointed out that he’s finally got competition. Seriously, a competition? With him. No way. The person that followed him on the honor roll was five points down, not even close.
Ryosuke was silent the whole morning, he watched in awe as Ryutaro answered all the questions that the teachers threw at him, he looked so confident and ready and so sure of what he does, and for that Ryosuke adored him. When lunch time came, some of his new classmates approached him, but none of them asked him for lunch, they probably assumed that he was going to spend it Ryutaro, which is exactly what he was planning to do.

“Hey” he turned around when somebody tapped him on the back. He blinked at the familiar boy, he’s seen him in one of his birthday parties before, but it was years already. But he really was familiar, “Ryosuke right? You still remember me?”

He knew it. Though he was distracted a little when he heard Ryutaro groaning secretly behind him, looking all exasperated with the other boy’s approach, “I think so…but I’m…you were once in my party, right?”

“Yeah, we used to live in the same neighborhood, it’s Arioka Daiki” Daiki held out his hand, and Ryosuke gladly shook it, and he just grinned as Okamoto Keito and Nakajima Yuto followed after them.

“Let’s go now” Daiki beckoned the others, and Ryosuke was about to follow when the guy turned to him again, “I’m sorry, did we say you can come?” he asked, and Ryosuke almost crumbled right then and there, feeling the humiliation seeping through him little by little, and what adds more fuel to the fire was, when Ryutaro pretended to not care when the former turned to look at him for help.

In the end, he stayed inside their room, and started to study. After all, he wasn’t feeling that hungry. True enough that this school is one of the best in Japan and that the place is conducive for learning, but people with attitude are just everywhere. Ryosuke probably just has to live with that, he just thought that maybe Ryutaro wasn’t just willing yet to be friends with him, but he’s sure, eventually, they’d come to that.

-

Ryutaro sighed as he rested under his favorite tree, it was a holiday, yet there he was finalizing the plans for his takeover on the council. The faculty adviser pushed through giving him the position without him finding someone else to replace his vice presidency, so there he was. It wasn’t like he hated going to school when it’s holiday…at least it keeps him from boredom and hunger in their house. At least in school his snacks and lunch are provided so he’s pretty much enjoying everything.

“What are you doing here?” he smiled as he heard that deep voice, he didn’t mind opening his eyes. He just felt the older one lying beside him, trying to enjoy the heat of the day,

“Nothing, just resting…trying to kill my lonely lunch break, how about you?” he asked, now opening his eyes. And he just never was ready when it came to Takaki Yuya, he was just so cool and attractive, and Ryutaro was very well convinced that despite their gap in age and family status, he has a crush on the older guy.

He was that one and only rich guy that never annoyed Ryutaro, he was fair, and smart and very humble to everyone. He was the first one to tour Ryutaro around the whole school, and it was probably because of that that Ryutaro strived for getting the top. It was only Yuya’s compliments that mattered to him most,

“Nothing, I just tried if I can hunt some cutie like you out here. And turns out, I’m lucky again.” Yuya pinched his nose, and he swatted his hand away, cursing silently. He knew Yuya’s pinches always bruise.

He could clearly remember the first day they met; Yuya was the one who took him to the examination room when he got lost. If it wasn’t for this guy, he probably never would have gotten a chance to get a scholarship.

“Oh holy angel, if it isn’t my lucky day” he heard Yuya exclaiming almost dreamily. He almost wanted to ignore the older guy, thinking he was just trying to annoy Ryutaro out of his sleepiness, but when he felt the other sitting up, he finally opened his eyes, wanting to know the other’s plans. “Ryutaro, tell me that’s also a friend of yours” Yuya said, looking at the other direction.

It annoyed him that Yuya was looking at someone that way, that there was someone capable of taking the other’s attention that much that he was almost blushing and he could hardly keep his mouth close. He was gaping at the person too much, and Ryutaro looked at the person finally.

Geez, just Ryosuke. Ryutaro was pretty sure Yuya would find the guy boring enough, and he bothered to feel threatened.

“Ryutaro-kun, the teachers asked me to look for you” Ryosuke said the moment he approached them

“Hi, you’re a new face” Yuya extended his hand to the newcomer “Actually, I think I know you. Yabu Ryosuke, right?”

“Yes I just transferred last week. I’ll guess that would be because of my mum or dad?” Ryosuke blushed, taking Yuya’s hand shyly as he shook it.

“Yeah, I’m Takaki Yuya by the way”
