"Wh-wha- really?" Ryosuke asked excitedly. It felt as thought a spark of excitement broke free inside of him, like an excitement that died long ago that he already forgot. But after being triggered once more, it lit everything that was inside of him.
University, how long has it been? Two years. Even more than two years.
Ryosuke did not hate school like other children did. He loved going to school, and he loved studying. He was not the competent type, he likes standing on his normal grounds, passing his subjects with above average but not too excellent grades. He loved school basically because it kept him from being ignorant. He loved school because he can meet his friends everyday, and there was no one else in his life that he had to spend every single day with his circle of friends.
Friends. Friends are the people who kept him sane from everything. When his grandparents died, he did not feel the heaviness or depression, all because his friends were there and he met these friends because of school. When he wanted to go out, to drink, to shop…they were there. Readily helpful of him.
And now that Ryosuke thought about it, the last time he contacted his friends was the last day he thought he was free, and still single. The moment he found out he was pregnant, there was only Yuri that he contacted and after Yuya found him more than a year ago, it was the last that they talked.
Ryosuke now felt scared of having a family, amusingly scared that he forgot all of these just because of Kyo and Sei. But he was not going to regret it.
He was on his third year when he stopped. One and a half more year to go, and he's done. Business Management. Yuya studied the same thing outside the country.
"Are you serious?" he asked again, and Yuya just nodded
"I just thought that maybe you really wanted to have a degree. I can't bear to let you take care of them and leave yourself behind. Besides, it would only be fifteen more months, it would be such a waste to not continue it" Yuya explained "We contacted you previous university, and they're more than willing to welcome you back. It would just be up to you."
"Yes, of course I want to!" he exclaimed and just pouted seeing something different from Yuya, something almost unreadable. Guilt? Disappointment? And that had snapped him back to reality. What if the older guy was just trying to test him? What the freak did he just do? He just jumped to the opportunity and showed the older guy how much he wanted it..
Maybe. He became silent. Maybe Yuya is still hesitant of making him go, who would take care of the kids other than Azumi? How would it become possible for him to go back to university when he already has a life where his hands are all full of responsibility? There's the house, who would take of the house? Azumi would only be there every morning, and when night comes he'd have to take care of two kids….and how about his expenses? He wouldn't want the older one to finance him again...
"Ryosuke?" it was a soft call, a sincere one.
And when he looked up, Yuya was taken aback to see tears in his eyes.
"Let me think about it" he said in the end.
He really did want to be back to university but it felt impossible.
..
When Ryosuke exclaimed happily that he wanted to go back to university, Yuya felt incompetent. So all these times, Ryosuke wanted to go back t university, yet he never dared ask. All these times, he wanted to finish his studies and earn his own living, but only because of Yuya, all of those ambitions and goals were redirected to being a home buddy, taking care of kids.
He felt GUILTY.
Things about the younger one surprises Yuya most of the time. But there he was looking at the younger one wiping his tears, he looked strained. And that's what Yuya hated the most about himself, he just can't get through Ryosuke without making him doubt. He'd always fail to make him feel that everything will be okay and that he can rely on him only…just him.
"Don't worry about anything, just trust me and everything will be okay. You deserve this" he murmured, embracing Ryosuke, tightening it every second just to show him how much he meant those words. And he felt him nodding.
..
It was Yuya's day off. Ryosuke knew it already, that's why when he did not find Yuya sleeping beside him when it's so early in the morning, he couldn't help but frown and get up. He picked up the first shirt he saw on the floor and immediately wore it, groaning as he realized that it was the older guy's shirt from last night, but he couldn't care less. There would be no house helpers for today and Azumi wouldn't be coming either so lurking around the house not dressed properly is totally fine.
He checked the twins first and sighed seeing them still asleep, they wouldn't be waking up until eleven, unless they're disturbed and that should be the last thing someone would for that day. He went downstairs and smiled as he saw Yuya going up.
"Hi, you're awake" Yuya grinned, and waited for him to come down one step ahead of him. The older one gave him a quick kiss and smiled again "You're wearing my shirt" he chuckled
"Yeah, where did you go?" he asked
"Outside, I was about to wake you up" Yuya answered, taking his hand and leading him to the door. He suddenly realized that they were heading to the door, and immediately retracted away "What's wrong?"
"What are we going to do outside?" he asked, "If you haven't noticed, I'm not dressed properly" he said, and with that Yuya looked at him once more even grinning as his eyes casted over his legs. He pouted when the older guy pulled him closer to wrap those manly arms around him, and he could only squeak when Yuya's right hand rested on his butt, "Stop it" he complained when the older one gave him a light squeeze
"Don't worry, we're just going to stay in the car" Yuya whispered huskily, kissing the side of his neck
"Wait, they're still sleeping, we can't hear them from here" Ryosuke suddenly protested when they were about to enter the garage,
"I've turned the baby-transmitter on, don't worry" Yuya said, pointing a white speaker inside the car
"What are we doing here, anyway?" he finally asked, but still admiring the speaker. Now that was definitely helpful, he can move around more with that.
"I'll teach you how to drive"
"What?" he turned around briskly, and Yuya just grinned at him.
