masterpost Two weeks had gone by, Jack and Alex having only hung out about 3 more times after that first night. They had gotten closer you could say, knowing more about each other, but not knowing things the other should know.
Jack and Alex sat in English on the Friday before their winter break. The teacher had already told everyone that she expects them to meet up at least 5 times over Christmas break to work on their project. Jack thought about what work they had done. Him and Alex might need to meet up more then 5 times. Jack smiled at that thought.
“Hey Alex, you want to come over to Rian’s tonight with me?” Alex hesitates. He’s met all of Jack’s friends briefly, not knowing what to say or do at the time, but he has met them. He knows their names and what they look like. But what he doesn’t know is if they like Alex. But then Jack is giving him that puppy dog look and Alex is nodded, a small blush on his face when Jack’s smile gets bigger.
“I love making you blush.” Jack mumbled, a fond look coming over his feature. Alex blushed even harder. Jack was doing that more often. Complementing him or saying little things just to make him blush. Alex was loving it.
“I’ll come pick you up around 7? We’re having a movie marathon tonight.” Jack said just as the bell rang. Alex nodded following him out the door as they walked to gym class. Jack didn’t say much more to Alex as they walked towards the gym, Rian and Zack having met up with the two boys.
“Rian it’s cool if Alex comes tonight right?” Jack asked as they entered the changingrooms. Rian smiled at Alex, nodding his head.
“The more the merrier! Also, me and Zack have been dying to get to know you better, Alex. Since Jack seems to be so fond of you, we want to know why.” Rian said with a laugh as Jack hit him in the shoulder, the lightest of blushes covering his cheeks, while Alex was practically flaming red.
Alex opened his bag to grab his gym clothes and frowned when he didn’t see them. Then he remembered he had left them at home on his bed.
“Jack?” Alex asked the boy. Jack turned to look at Alex, making sure to keep his undershirt from riding up as he removed his Blink-182 t-shirt.
“I forgot my gym clothes. Can you show me where I can borrow a pair?” Alex asked looking down. Jack nodded his head, he turned around and pushed through the crowd of guys changing. Alex followed behind him, his breath hitching in his throat as he felt Jack’s hand reach back and grab onto his as they pushed through the throng of people changing. As soon as he had grabbed his hand he had let go, pushing open the change room door and walking up to the coach.
“Coach, Alex forgot his gym clothes. Where are the spares?” Coach grinned a wicked grin at Alex.
“The spare girl clothes are in the back room.” He said with a laugh. Alex gulped, knowing the clothes wouldn’t be as baggy on him as the usual gym uniform. He prayed no one would comment on how fat he was. Jack nodded and started walking over to the back room. When he arrived he found the clothes immediately and passed Alex the smallest pair he could find, even though he was sure they would still be too big on the tiny boy.
Back in the changing room Jack thanked the lord for the fact it was empty. He pulled his undershirt off, making sure Alex was in one of the bathroom stalls beforehand. He caught a glimpse of himself in the mirror and winced. His father had really wailed on him two nights ago, when he got home a little to late from Alex’s. Yellow and purple bruises littered his ribs thanks to the kicks his father had placed there.
He quickly pulled his uniform over his head as he heard Alex leaving the stall. He didn’t turn around when the boy stopped behind him, not wanting to see his face if he did see Jack’s torso. But then Alex just coughed lightly, making Jack turn around.
“Jesus you’re small.” Jack said without thinking. Alex gave him a confused look, turning to look at himself in the mirror.
“No I’m not. I look huge.” Alex whispered, turning away. Jack grabbed the boys shoulder, making sure he was looking him in his eyes as he spoke.
“Alex, you’re not huge. You’re not fat. You’re not any of these things I know you think you are. Okay?” Jack almost pleaded. He didn’t know what was wrong with Alex, but he knew something was wrong. No one should be as skinny as him.
Alex looked at Jack, seeing how distraught he was over the fact that Alex thought he was fat. Alex didn’t understand why Jack was so upset, but he didn’t like it. Alex just nodded, not wanting to be the one to make Jack upset.
“Please Alex. I don’t know why you think these things, but for me, please, try to get better.” Jack mumbled again, removing his hand from Alex’s shoulder. Alex nodded slowly, the thought of Jack being upset making him want to cry.
“For you.” He mumbled. Alex didn’t care that Jack didn’t know what was exactly wrong with him, all he cared about was that by getting better Jack would be happy, that was enough for him. Jack moved closer to Alex, wrapping his arms around the smaller boy.
“Thank you.” He whispered in his ear. Alex blushed, wrapping his arms around Jack’s body. Smiling lightly at the butterflies he felt erupting in his stomach.
He never wanted the feeling to end.

Alex stood in his bathroom, staring at his reflection. He was shirtless for the first time in god knows how long, just looking at himself. It took a while, but finally he was able to see what Jack saw.
Each of his ribs were sticking out against his skin. His hip bones protruding out in a way that only happened when you were underweight. Alex didn’t know why, but when he looked at his tooth brush he pictured Jacks frown, and immediately ignored the need to shove the item down his throat till he was puking up everything in his stomach.
“For you.” Alex whispered again. He turned off the lights in his bathroom, throwing on a plain black shirt and his favorite black hoodie before heading downstairs.
“Mom?” He called out lightly. She made a noise from the kitchen, Alex followed and found her sitting there, a bowl of spaghetti in front of her. Alex hesitated, but then spoke.
“Is there.. Is there anymore left?” He asked motioning to the bowl. She looked at him for a moment, surprise covering her features. She nodded slowly, pointing to the stove. Alex blushed and quickly made himself a small bowl, sitting beside his mother.
“I’m going over to my friend Rian’s house tonight.” Alex mumbled after a few mouthfuls of food. He took his time eating, each time he wanted to stop Jacks face popping up in his mind, causing him to take another bite. For him, Alex thought. For Jack.
“That’s wonderful, honey.” Ms.Gaskarth said, a smile on her face. Alex thought his mother was going to cry, but then she shook her head, wiping at her eyes. The ate in silence, his mom finishing first, getting her stuff for work together. Before she left she looked at Alex, smiling
“I’m proud of you.” She said. Alex blushed again, nodding his head in a thank you. His mom smiled once more before leaving. Alex couldn’t help the smile that spread over his face. He liked seeing his mom happy.
Not long after his mother left, there was a knock at the door. Alex already knew who it was, having received a text message not a minute before. He grabbed his keys and opened the door, smiling at Jack. Jack grinned holding up two cups of what Alex assumed to be coffee. He passed Alex one after he locked the door, then wrapped one arm around his shoulders giving him a half hug in greeting.
“Ready for a night filled with movies and fun!” Jack said as they walked over to his car, snow falling down around them mixing with the already snow covered ground. It hit Alex how close Christmas really was, and how long him and Jack have been talking now.
Alex just laughed lightly as the slipped into Jacks car, taking a sip of the black coffee. Alex sighed in content as the hot liquid warmed his cold body. The drive to Rian’s didn’t take very long, Alex too distracted by Jacks talking to even care. They could have been in the car 3 hours and Alex wouldn’t have known.
It wasn’t until they were standing in front of Rian’s front door that Alex got nervous. Jack saw Alex tense up and frowned, he wanted the boy to have fun. He reached his hand over and intertwined his and Alex’s fingers, smiling at the blush on his face. Alex blushed harder as Jack squeezed his hand and knocked on Rian’s door.
Jack didn’t let go of Alex’s hand when Rian answered the door, a smile on his face. Or when they walked into the house to see Zack, Danny, Grieco, Matt, Ian and a guy he briefly knew as Evan. He didn’t let go when they walked over and sat down on the couch beside Matt and Grieco.
He finally let go of Alex’s hand when Rian popped in the first movie, only to place it around his shoulders, moving him so he was tucked into his side. Rian had shut the lights out, saying it will add to the ‘effect of the movie’. It clicked for Alex then what type of movie they were going to watch.
Horror movies.
Alex hated horror movies.
Jack realized, only 30 minutes into the movie that Alex was jumping almost every minute. Jack grinned and leaned down closer to the boys ear.
“Scared?” He whispered. Alex shivered at Jacks breath fanning over his ear and nodded his head. Jack just tightened his arm around Alex, showing him its okay. Alex practically buried his head in Jacks side. One hand at his mouth biting on the small nails, the other resting just beside Jacks thigh.
Jack was doing his best to ignore that.
Alex jumped again, as one of the main characters were killed off. His hand moving to grip the fabric of Jacks jeans. Jack bit his lip, praying Alex’s hand would just stay there and not move at all.
But Jack never really got what he prayed for.
Alex, unknowingly, started moving his hand, drawing little circles in Jack’s thigh. The movie was almost over, meaning Alex wasn’t as scared knowing the movie was going to end. He kept making these little circles though, and it was driving Jack crazy.
“Lex?” Jack asked leaning down to whisper in his ear again, Alex looked up at Jack from where his head was resting on his arm, big, brown eyes wide open as the tv’s lights reflected off his face. Jack had to stop himself from kissing him hard on the lips.
“Not that I don’t like it, I actually like it a little too much, but if you don’t stop moving your hand, we’re going to have a slight problem.” Jack said with a fond smile. Alex moved his hand immediately, a blush coating his face and neck. He didn’t even realize he was practically rubbing Jacks thigh. Jack giggled lightly, leaning in closer to Alex to place a light kiss to the side of his head.
“It’s okay, Lex.” He whispered again. Alex had to bite his lip to stop the smile from spreading across his face. Jack was going to be the death of him.
