Someone on my f-list suggested putting a # for books you read and loved at the time, but can't stand now.

Go ahead and read Slaughterhouse 5. I'm sure you've got it. It's a quick read.

Admirable that there are no books you haven't finished on that list. You were with them to the bitter end, even the bad ones. I've read a surprising number of these (20 1/2), not counting ones I started and wanted to destroy (Anne Rice, Neal Stephenson, S. Donaldson). Well, maybe it's not all that surprising after all.

I counted Gene Wolfe as 1/2 since I'm still not done with that monster!

The Donaldson are one of the few books I wish I could unread. Mind you, I also read the 2nd chronicles... bloody hell.

You and me both. I had a creepy sense of irony when Larissa suggested we look at white gold ring options. ;-)

Maybe you read it as "Tiger, Tiger"?

In any event, I highly recommend you read it. It moves quickly, and has an almost TV-like sensibility for pacing, action, and modern mannerism.^

Okay, maybe that would be too much like your day job.

^The copy I read had Bester's visual display of information of his future computerized communications age (as one could imagine it with his era of typing-machine technology). It reminded me a bit of Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon with its graphs in that regard.

I'd place young Harry in that category myself.
