Quick Update from UMich

So, I haven't really written anything for ages, but I'm going to start trying a little more...

Michigan is wonderful. Beautiful campus, lovely atmosphere, INCREDIBLE people. Lots of stuff to do. Ann Arbor is one of the ultimate college towns.

Classes are a little difficult first semester. Freshman have to take a lot of music classes, including theory and piano four out of five days, and it can get really frustrating if you start to lag behind, but I'm doing ok I think. Dance is fun. Ballet three days a week, and then a "Dance Workshop" class on Fridays where we learn student choreography (right now we're doing a Janet Jackson medley and Turkey Lurkey Time! Woo!) We have an Intro to MT class here, which some people may find meticulous, but I think it's incredibly interesting. We basically learn about the business side of Musical Theatre, history of productions, current news and stats from NYC, important people, even streets to remember... a lot of ground to cover, but a theatre geek's dream.

Everyone here is so interesting. Where to start... My "senior buddy" is awesome. He wrote the lyrics for the musical "Edges," and he's actually graduating early so he can start writing material for a Disney TV show with the writers of Avenue Q! I'm working crew for "The Pajama Game," and it's going to be a wonderful show. The leads are fantastic, and the ensemble is so tight... very inspiring.

There is so much more to talk about, but I have to go to class soon, so if you want to know more, gimme a call! Or just leave a reply... whatevs.

Ian
