stayin' alive

and having a blast. leave missouri tomorrow (hopefully) to new orleans. the van is running great, and we are still sleeping in it. no hassles with cops or anything. if only it would quit raining and warm up.

well, since you asked:

we take showers at peoples' houses that we meet on the street, or at relatives' houses, or at campgrounds in state parks. if you sneak in, shower quick, and sneak out, you don't have to pay.

the only jobs we can get are shitty jobs no one else wants to do (like washing dishes). now, fortuantely (or unfortunately), the people who usually do these jobs are illegal, so you can usually get paid under the table. and if you're not on payroll, they usually don't care about your address.

not everyone we've met is someone i would hang out with at home, but we've seen a lot by hanging out with jersey kids in dirty bars and rednecks in honky-tonks. we will pretty much do anything with anyone if we're invited.

the van is smelly, but we've got incense. we use grocery bags (taken from relatives) for trash, so the van doesn't get too dirty. we vaccuum it out about once every two weeks, provided we can find a free vaccuum somewhere.

no van trouble to speak of. it rattles a lot when it drives, but if nothing's falling off, i'm not too worried.

it's been good so far.
