I do not get Japanese variety shows at all.

Host A: "Hmm....seems like maybe it's missing a few or there are a few extra!"
(audience laughs)
Teppei: "Now pick a card, any card"
Host A (immediately): "Hold on, I can't decide!!"
(audience bursts into thunderous laughter)
(Host B hits Host A in the head)
(Host A picks a card)
Host A (to host B): "You shouldn't hit me!"
(Audience bursts out laughing again)
Apparently everything Host A says is supposed to be hilarious. The only explanation I could think of is that he says those lines all the time so it becomes kind of a running gag. Or maybe I will just never find this particular kind of Japanese humor funny.
